Hey, I am leaving for my first bear hunt Saturday. I saved the first thread "Bear Vitals and shot placement" but all of the pictures were lost in Pats server crash. Would some of the folks who posted the original pics re-post them on this thread? I would love to see them again before I leave town. Thanks,

This is a still from the video, you can see the arrow entering just behind the bears shoulder, I would not aim any further forward, the bear was dead in about 15 seconds, he travelled 25 yards.

Thanks for the pics guys. Is it correct that the sweet spot on a bear is a littte further back than I am used to on whitetails? I think I remember reading that on one of the posts on the thread that was lost.
thanks, andy in MS

I have been hunting Bears in mass for year with little luck. You shoot a little lower on the bear then you do on a deer. good luck sean www.bowarrowhunting.com

On quartering away shots, wait til the front leg closest to you moves forward as if he's reaching out to roll a log. This opens up the lung area and lessens the chance of first hitting a leg bone.

When shooting bears quartering away from you ,go for the last rib,in the middle of the bear, this way your sticking your arrow into the boiler room.We have had so many clients lose their bear because they shot right behind the leg on a quartering away, which will result in a wounded bear that you won,t recover. You must get that arrow back so you hit the vitals when a bear is quartering away from you,if not you will end up with a bear with a flesh wound.
