It's that time of the year again just been able to start baiting today its been a long nasty winter here in Manitoba. It was good to get out on the four wheeler to run some baits still some snow in places. Its raining right now till Friday there saying, that will take what ever snow we have away hoping anyway. The bear should start moving next week. The first bait of the year it was good to be out in Gods creation.
Alexis, glad to see your able to get into some of the baits. Long term forcast looks like some good weather coming up. That will help get the bears moving. Can't wait to see some trail cam pictures.
Sweet, Thanks Alexis, cant wait to be in Manitoba again
Yes Joe it was nice getting out there, there is some baits I won't get in till Friday too much water. May have to take an argo in we will see its still raining this morning. William were you up here last year at Allans sorry if I forgot you name sounds familiar, the creeks are starting to flow pretty good.
Thought I would share this closes thing to a bear right now, it was born beginning of march.
Went out this morning till I got wet, packed her in waiting for the rain to stop, my little Honda wanted to flot away when I crossed this one its was interesting.
Sure looks like it's going to be challenging and interesting getting things going this early! Feels good to be finally out I bet.
It sure does feel good to be out,Ron if you come this way this fall stop in for a day or two. we will hunt some fur bearing animals maybe run across a wolf you are looking for before you go after your big buck.
Hey Ron just looked at the regulations I jumped the gun you can only hunt yots and wolves in the area your deer tag is for along the mountain is closed for wolves not sure where Bert is taking you for deer. Stop in for coffee.
Alexis that sure looks like fun. Hope it dries out for you in the near future. Please keep up the pictures and stories as season gets going.
Alexis- I will send you a pm or email.
Will do John, it is very enjoyable I love it running baits listening to the story's the boys have after there evening out in the stand, the fellowship and getting to meet new people, and the guys that have been here before lots of great people out there. we are blessed just being able to do this.
My son Blaine and I will see you in a few weeks. He is really excited! Nothing like a teenager getting to hunt bears with his Father.
See you soon!
That;s good that you do things with your son, memories that last a lifetime. It won,t be long you will be here, we are starting on the 5th of may hope the weather changes looks like same story as last year. take care Adam talk to you soon.
Alexis I remember crossing that a few times maybe you would like to tell the story about when we went to recover my bear the look on your face was priceless :)
Yes Jim I remember we went in to retrieve your bear the next morning, the front shoulder was pealed back from another bear we figured, that gave me a sick feeling. Brad fixed him up for you, he was in the 300lbs I think hey Jim nice bear, well I;m off to finish up the baits today. have a great day to all.
It was a decent day in Manitoba 7 celcius no rain got most of the baits done, pulled out Yamaha today had to change a boot on it did that yesterday.
The bears last fall had the barrels pulled all over the place, the are a powerfull animal that smaller chain they break that no problem.
The water is coming out of the mountain finally spring is here.
I went up to take a picture out of this stand I did not want to come down it felt great. I will go and check baits next week see if anything moving got the cameras out hope the water washes a few bear out of the mountain.
Just to the right you can see where I have been digging out the dam every year, the beavers are flooding the farmers field no beaver this spring I trapped them out.
This is what I did this morning finished splitting some wood first time I try some seasoned maple not the easiest to split. Anyone ever tried it? Going to check a few bait sites to see if any bear wintered close by. Beautiful day in Manitoba the sun is shining. have a great day everyone.
Great picts Alexis! Can't wait for your updates in a few weeks! Thanks for sharing.
You will be at it too pretty soon Chuck your always welcome to stop in. This is my buddy Bernie he has a camp west of me along the mountain he is doing maple sugar right now.
We were out in the bush collecting the sap.
Went and checked a couple baits today theres a couple bear at the baits already, no cameras where a couple were hit, took a picture of one track.
I'll be in touch Alexis. I'll be in Winnipeg the evening of the 16th and then heading up towards Swan River the morning of the 17th. Loving the picts you're posting. Looks great without the snow.
Best wishes for a terrific spring season!

Got a couple baits done this morning beautiful day in Manitoba, got some nice trail pics to show you.
You bear hunters getting pumped yet.
Starting to be quite a bit of action.
My barrels are in the bush dragged away recovered them this morning.
I left a camera in the bush over the winter a bushnell it took 8500 pics before it went dead amazing here's on from last fall on that camera.
This one didn't winter that well.
Going to do more baits this afternoon the boys should do well next week.
Sweet! Happy to see they are up and moving!
Great to see! Going out tomorrow with a couple buddies.
Great pictures Alexis... Indeed, keep them coming!

My new quad has a winch didn't think I ever needed one but there sure nice to have.
An old homestead along the mountain.
An old homestead along the mountain.
never fun fighting the snow expenses and labour costs double and seems like nothing gets done.I envy the snow you have,we still have areas 2-3ft plus and north of me guys are dealing with twice that.Good thing we have some south faceing areas that are always early even when things are three weeks late.Id never get home any day without a winch, and a cell phone to call for a tow.
Off to grind some stumps today beautiful day here again, have a good day everyone.
You guys got her this year with snow ey Dave.
Yes Alexis it was a winter to remember.Ive never seen so much snow this late.Im in alot better shape than some guys ive talked too that cant even get in the woods yet.But for sure its too early for paying customers to be hunting.
A couple residents they were nice to see.
He;s thanking the Lord for his food.
It was a mixture of showers and sun yesterday in Manitoba.
I had some nice pictures on another card and I formated it before i moved the pics to early in morning i quess.
Its cloudy today the grass is starting to green up a bit.
I need to cut some more wood today for next winter don't much feel like it, been going hard with the baiting and arborist work this week.
How;s everyone doing today probably cutting grass the leaves are out maybe planting some gardens its that time of year sure feels good.
There is some big boys at the baits right now maybe the boys will get a chance at one.
The first group is coming in tomorrow hoping to have a good week with the bears, we will have good fellowship for sure.
Wow your baits are certainly looking good in a short time, one week! I hope the first hunters get nice hunting weather/conditions. Enjoy the week all.
Best of luck to you and your hunters. That blonde bear sure is a pretty one!
Thanks guys, it was snowing a bit here this morning no checking baits till tomorrow, go and see where to put the boys from Wisconsin, have a good weekend to all.
The "He's thanking the Lord for his food", pic... that's a classic.
Nice to see all the snow gone - great picts. Sure looks like it's happening already! Best of luck to you and your guys this coming week! Keep us updated!
Alexis, really good to see you getting started. Long winter Eh? That's my cuz Ridgerunnerron, he could use a wolf!
I like that one too Chuck, you will be up this way soon hope you have a good trip we will cross paths maybe. Rich I know Ron wants a wolf he maybe run across one when he;s out deer hunting you never know.
Went and checked a couple baits today there;s a few more moving around.
Looks like its going to be wet in mb the next few days me and Allan;s guys are at it tomorrow.
The boys are out in the stands its a cloudy but good evening good wind we will see what happens.
Theres some nice bear around.
I got lots of pics the last few days will show you;s a few.

Great pictures!! Have a great season!!
Opening day is always special!
Love all the great pictures and updates.thanks definitely enjoying keep them coming. Man that one pic of bear to barrle height comparison is the best capture ive ever seen to show people. Love seeing the color phase bears. Good luck
Thanks for sharing the pictures Alexis! My wife and I are contemplating a bear trip for 2016 and are really enjoying following along as spring progresses! Best of luck to your hunters this week!
Thanks guys, the boys took some bear out last night one two year old light brown and a 4 year old black can't download pics on bowsite not sure the problem. They all seen bear two other guys each had opportunity at big bear it was not meant to be tough day for two guides and two hunters, have a good night everyone.
Thank you for the posts, love following the spring hunts for bear.
Wow.... Great picts Alexis! Sounds like you are off to a great start! Congrats!
Its been raining and raining this week 2 guys left one took a small black one of Allan;s guys last night. They come to take a bear if it has good hair there giving it to them, that,s fine with us its all about having a great time and good fellowship and bear steak. I will have to wait for Jmail to come this weekend I did something to my computer and can't transfer pics . thanks guys and good day to all.
Rodgers bear first one that come in he took him out 4 year old skinny, not a good pic water on lens thinking.
Don;s bear will have to fire the camera man me, 2 year old both bears nice coats two happy hunters.
The creese heads that's the old bears that are tough to get, Allan has 2 guys going out tonight its raining she;s going to be a wet one for them. The bears don't move much in the rain in this area.
Alexis, we'll get your computer fixed up when I get there. Your right about the rain, it's worse than high winds or cold. Bears really don't like moving in it.
That what she looks like right now in Manitoba still raining a bit the guys are out in the stand if the rain quits it should be good.
Thanks Joe, I figured it out today we will see you in a few days.
alex do many guys go to MB to shoot a two year old bear.
Can't wait to see that green later today, heading out to put the baits in, we will be driving right by that area of RM
Bou not many the first or second time hunters have a hard time judging the size and can't resist the colors.
If a hunter takes a 2 year old bear and is quite happy with the bear, why not!! Congratulations to the hunter.
Saves a larger bear for the trophy hunter.
Allans guy took out a 4 year old brown bear last night, the other guy had what he said was a monster 10 feet from his stand stood there for the longest time his heart was pounding so hard he thinks the bear heard it, he turned and walked away he swears his back was 3 feet wide no shot opportunity he couldn't believe what just happened he was sick. That was his 3rd time out hunting with us, only him left to hunt out of the 5 guys tonight hoping the big guy comes back.
Thats what makes you go back every year, Alexis anyone who has had this happens knows that feeling
I agree Spike buck its not all about trying to kill the biggest bear in the woods, they come to bear hunt and have a good time if there happy with what they got that's all that matters.
That's right William that's what makes bear hunting exciting you just never know when the bear of a lifetime is going to show up.
One year I had an absolute giant come in and just walked past the barrel and kept going never to come back he was huge.
Many times early on I heard "let the bear come to the bait and settle in and get comfortable" for me I like to take the first available broadside or quartering away shot that I am offered. +3 spike buck a trophy is in the eye of the beholder whether its 2 or 10 yrs old.
Memories of a life time ey.
Hard to resist nice colored bears!
"If a hunter takes a 2 year old bear and is quite happy with the bear, why not!! Congratulations to the hunter." - Spike
Totally agree.
The question could have been, "Do many guys go any place to shoot a two year old bear?"
A few years back I finally got the color phase I had wanted to take for so long and it came early in the evening. I sat the remainder of the night in my stand but I worried greatly about what my outfitter was going to say when he picked me up later on. Other than color, bear was average by any standard (we never did weigh him but he was just over 6' nose to tail). My outfitter made it clear that he preferred only 7 foot bears or better taken - his reputation depended upon it. So there I sat the whole night with the bear of my dreams, worried about what my outfitter would say. Not a good feeling.
So yeah, IMO, if a guy goes home happy with his bear and his outfiiter, good for all connected - no matter where they hunt.
Congrats to you and your guys Alexis!
Congrats to the hunters & guides. It's all in the experience. Nothing more fun than a Spring bear hunt. Good to see some early success.
Well said Chuck!
Beauty is in the eyes of the Bowholder! Only the hunter can judge what a trophy is.
Thanks Guys, Allan has the only hunter out tonight I am waiting for the next group they will be here sunday 6 of them. It was a beautiful day in Mb.
A small color I like the colored bears the wife likes the blacks better, the guys a few years back told me I needed to get a bear rug which color did I shoot?
Yep I took a black one have to keep the cook happy. Good night to all.
Chad took out a 310 lb color phase tonight the one last night dwarfed this one he said, he was hunting with MACCARTHYOUTFITTING and myself. Were all done for this week we will see what next week brings.
Nice! Just gotta love these colored bears! Congrats to all.
Good luck to all next week.
Alexis the guys might not understand that bears are aged to the half yr on the yr till fall.A bear now would age 1.5yrs old or 2.5/There is a huge difference between a 1.5yr old or yearling 30-60lb and a 2.5yr old which here can be 125-200lbs.When you say 2yr old Alexis do you mean 1.5yrs old or 2.5yrs old?
Congrats ,I love the colored bears.the pic on the rock is really nice!
Congrats that's a beautiful bear!
Dave 2.5 year old, thank guys yes that was a nice bear a few shades of colors on that one, here is Todds bear from the other night his hair was matted at a few places didn't take a good picture my fault. He was skinny he only weighed 185 lbs a 4 year old he would of been 300 lbs this fall. Allan sold him a license
Alexis Just registered on bowsite.. Can't wait to get there. Take care Greg
That good Greg hot day here plus 19 Celsius rain on the way for the beginning of the week.
Went out to do a few baits today the big bears are showing up, the boys from MA got here at 12oclock today 38 hour ride next year there flying that's a lon g ride.
I have what I think is around 400 lbs on video cam it won't take that pic anyone know how I can put it on this forum any help would be appreciated.
This is what she looked like at 6;30 this morning leaving the house plus 5 is the temperature she;s going to be a cold week highs of 10 only.
Lookin good Alexis keep it up and put the big guy on the ground before he moves on.Sucks for sure when the weather deals a bad hand but im sure youl work it out.Have a good week.D
We have 2 guys that what I call veteran hunters this week they are after old pumpkin head, 1 guy has been here twice, and three guys that never shot a bear I think there will be a variety of dead bear this week. Some of them are going out tonight, all the bears last week had good coats and some awesome colors all the boys went home happy. We are hoping for the same results this week we will have some fun anyway. Happy mothers day to all. This bear was eyeing up my beaver yep no beaver left.
Dave when are you starting up hope you have best year ever and a safe one for all who's involved. How much snow do you have left?
Alexis, When I saw your last picture, this taxidermy form immediately popped into my mind! It is almost identical to the picture. The form is produced by a small taxidermy business here in the states-Revolution Taxidermy. They call it the "Cliff-Bear!"
http://www.revolutiontaxidermysupply.com/BEARS_2010_Catalog.pdf
Love those color phase bears! I've got to make it to Manitoba soon!
Same to you Alexis. We start soon still snow in the deep woods foot or two but melted off anywhere there is sun.You mentioned a big one just showing up,i have one that arrived two days ago feel pretty good about getting him but again its hunting.Been feeding him 8yrs and have yet to hunt the stand but i think its time.Great thread love looking it over late at night when i get in.
I will take a look Ken, I brought 3 guys out hunting it raining pretty hard plus 3 out I do^;t think they will be out long. I thought I had heard all the bear stories this one is the best, one of the guys won't shoot a big bear they are to tough to eat, did we laugh he is serious look out boo boo o man.
Man love the pics and stories. Alexis are you and mikes outfitters the only two oufitters open ? Whats going on nobody else having any success?
Alexis - my wife begs me to shoot the little ones because they taste better. I'm not a good listener but once in while I'll shoot something small to keep the Mrs.'s happy.
Thanks guys, the boys went out yesterday at 2 oclock I picked them up at 4 they were frozen wet it was snowing like crazy. Its cloudy but not raining today went and checked baits this morning every bait has bears in the night the boys will have fun tonight.
There is 2 brown bear at this bait hard to tell them apart you can tell by the shape and burs.
I think this is the one Chad had beside him at 10 feet he was excited no shot, he is coming every night but in the dark I will wait till he hits in daylight before we try him again.
When the wind is right we will try to take this one out
I hope we can put one of these on a scale the boys seem to fall apart when a big one comes in.
Got to love them colored bears we are blessed to have them in our area.
First time I ever see one of those on our baits.
that's a dandy, the boys are pumped we will take them out around 4 oclock I think it will be a good night to put some on the ground, hopefully they don't ground shrink to much.
Alexis, just wondering what the propane tank is for?
I'll be there next week with my son. If one of the big ones walks under my 15 year old, I think you'll get to put him on the scale. Now if he walks under my stand, we may all hear a story of the one that got away. Haha!
See you soon!
Alexis, I know you have been a busy guy, but did you get a chance to look at the "Cliff-Bear" form? If so, do you agree it is the spittin' image of your trail-cam pic? Good luck to you and all of your hunters this year. I surely enjoy following this thread, as many others do. My Best.
Spike we put beaver in the tank for a stink bait, Adam we will see you this weekend have a safe trip, Ken I tried too but my computer would not open the cliff bear don't know why. good night to all.
Alexis, you sure have got it going on for your guys. Best wishes for another successful week!
Tom the guy that was after bear meat he took the first one that come out nice bear nice coat.
We were waiting for a couple more guys to come out all the boys seen bear tonight, the first time hunters now have an idea on size.
Here's a few more colors.
Well its 12;30 time for bed till tomorrow adeos amigos. Chuck your coming this way next week right?
Great to talk yesterday.that sunset picture of the mountains really is beautiful...take care Greg
Yup... Will be headed up soon Alexis! Can't wait!
Alexis if I run away from home do you have room for me this is killing me I know one of those bears has my name on it!
Jim you can help me bait if you want no tags left glad your enjoying, Chuck do you have my cell phone number give me a call if you have time to stop in. Greg it was good talking to you too another couple weeks it will be your turn. The boys are in the stand see what the good lord brings us for bear tonight.
One of the first time hunters killed a dandy tonight, I will put some pics on tomorrow, its 12;30 am its bed time.
Yup, I've got it in my phone Alexis. Thanks. Sounds like you're having another terrific week!
Were doing ok Chuck, This is Daniel Saucier from Boston with his first bear one happy hunter he got a good one 374 lbs we waited till last night to hunt this bear the wind was in our favour. He took him out with the muzzle loader you would not of got him with a bow, he slowly came in before he got 20 yards from the bait he figured something was not right he took a step back and turned around sneeking away Dan saw an opening in the brush when the bear crossed the opening he give it to him made a perfect shot now he;s in the freezer good job Dan, you set the bar pretty high for the rest of the hunters here.
We have 4 guys left me and Allan the rest are looking for one like Dans we will see what the lord has in store for us tonight, the sun finnaly is showing itself today.
Alexis what stand did he kill that giant out of?
He killed him at bear city, Jim brings back memories don't it we are having a good time wish you were here.
First time we hunt this stand this isn't a bad bear he might be in trouble tonight.
Were going to look for one like this right away hope we find him, beautiful day in Manitoba this morning, a little chilly though minus 4 degress.
Alexis, Great thread! Where are you located in MB? I have hunted the inter lakes region with Bear track. You have some great looking Bears. Thanks for the pictures.
Alxis , thanks for getting me really pumped head for Moosehorn Manitoba in the morning, so ready
I;m in the Mccreary , Laurier region along the Riding Mountains, Good luck on your bear hunt William. Thanks Guys.
We still have 3 guys hunting tonight we will see what happens.
Alexis, is the bear in the post directly above a shooter in your area?
I would say that bear is around 300 lbs most guys would shoot that bear, and some guys will shoot 150 lb bear its what ever they want. this one here is around 375 to 400 lbs maybe more.
Thanks. It looked pretty nice to me...what had me confused is that the ears seem higher on the head and larger than I pictured would be on a big one. Sure are hard to judge!
Steve yes small ears big bear, that bear with the white patch has big ears but he is square built that's why I think he would weigh out around 300, I could be wrong though we don't know till you get them on a scale for sure.
Mike took this bear last night nice coat, he says he ground shrunk a lot hard to judge. Two guys left to hunt tonight. That's my grandson Keyden with Mike he can;t wait to hunt some bear himself.
Keyden is growing....Was he in the tree?? Was that a black Mike shot?? Take care....Greg
Greg no he wasn;t in the stand he was just wishing, yes he was black nice bear good wall hanger. The other 2 guys are done tonight here is Joe from Missouri with his bear from tonight nice coat another good wall hanger.
here is jmail from bowsite with his bear 285 lbs, he was with MACCARTHYOUTFITTERS. Its 1 oclock in the morning should get to bed, going to freshen the baits tomorrow me and Allan have 4 guys this week coming hoping for a good safe week with some bear stories.
We have enjoyed the thread so far. Blaine ad I will see you tomorrow. We spent the night in Sioux Falls last night and will be in Winnipeg tonight. See you Sunday!
Sounds good Adam we will be waiting for you have a safe one. Skinner do you do any bear hunting in BC wondering if there is any colors out your way.
The last of the crew left this morning, this weeks boys will be here tomorrow, the sows and the cubs are just starting to show up at the baits.
Hoping the boys get some nice bear again this week.
All the baits are getting worked over the boys should see a few.
Got to go and move some stands till next time, God Bless you all.
My two guys made it this morning they want to sit in the stand today good idea it's suppose to rain for a couple days. We will see whats moving tonight, nice day in Manitoba.
skinner creek's Link
Great thread Alexis, Yes we do bear hunts spot and stalk and hounds, We have about 20 % colour phase.
That's a pumpkin head nice good luck on your hunts, surprised you can still use hounds. Do you do any cat hunts with hounds if so Pm me with price please would like to try that one day. take care skinner creek
Two guys from Missouri went up in the stand last night they got to size up some bear, its lightly raining today in Manitoba there will be four guys tonight hunting we will see what happens. I was in the stand with a 14 year old boy his first time after bear, the first one come in around 200lbs I held him off the next 4 were under 200. He was texting his dad the next one that comes in I;m shooting it his dad told me lol.
There is one guy that wants a color this is a nice color.
that color at bear city?? Greg
This is a big brown can't get a pic in daylight smart bear.
How did someone put that pic of the native bowhunter on my thread any idea someone, here is the pic I wanted on there.
Weather is beautiful...where are the guys from this week? Those are nice bear at bear city...guys shooting bows or guns this week? I was wondering where you got that picture above...Greg
That's the bait across the river I call it the north bait. two from Missouri two from wisconson one guy gun,, three guys bow and one guy is carrying both.
Weather is beautiful...where are the guys from this week? Those are nice bear at bear city...guys shooting bows or guns this week? I was wondering where you got that picture above...Greg
Its raining still the boys are going in the stand shortly.
There is ghost bears in Manitoba.
Here's a few more colors for you, the bears are coming out of the mountain good hope they keep it up. We have a 250 lb black bear that's living at a bait he is scared of nothing he is rubbed a little bit don't know what I;m going to do with him he won't let anything come in not even us.
Adam Millburn goes by the handle Moose got his bear last night 250 lb chocolate good bear nice coat, all our guys so far got nice bears with beautiful coats. It's pouring rain this morning in Manitoba.
Just love the colors...and especially the ghost/blondes!...and the cinnamons!
Adams son Blaine took a nice color phase also last night we just got done retrieving and skinning a while ago drying out the camera card hope to get you;s a pic later.
Thanks Alexis for the great hunt and hospitality. Blaine and I both had a great time taking our first bears.
Here is a photo of you and Blaine that I took in the rain today.
Way to go guys! I was that night you spent in my home town of Sioux Falls that gave you the good luck. Of course Alexis might have played a small role as well....Congrats!
Thanks Adam and Blaine for coming out and hunting with us and shooting straight and the help today with the bear. Just got my bike started got most of the water out of it, I need to run into Dauphin in the morning for a few things for the bike if you guys want to come along around 9;00 oclock let me know. And thanks to Allan also for his help. I was sitting up in the stand with Blaine the last 2 nights it was enjoyable watching bears with him, we got a text from Adam that he had a bear down so I got down from the stand and went to pick up him and his bear. By the time I got back to Blaine he had shot one also he didn't need my help telling him weather its a shooter or not he got it done without me. Good Job guys your more than welcome here anytime.
This is the guy that is not scared of people he was not there today when I went to bait. I am done for the week my 2 guys got there bears, Allan has 2 guys hunting tonight hope they get some good ones.
No wonder why he's usually at the bait and doesn't leave- It looks like you have him chained to the log! haha.
Is that what the problem is I knew there was something not right with that bear I didn't unchain him forgot the key, lol. Allan;s guys are still at it today one guy seen the one everybody is looking for he came in to the 35 yard range would not come into the bait to far for the bow through the trees. The guy tells me just seeing that bear made the trip worth it, maybe tonight.
Alexis, Do you ever move the tree stand out in the woods and try to cut the bear off before he gets to the bait? Just wondering if that is a possibility or if it would be a waste of time.
bowhunt we have done that a couple times with no luck , it would work I am sure but the guys prefer to sit by the bait. I went and did 4 baits this afternoon and seen 4 bear, my buddy that's not scared of me was on his back sunning himself by the bait barrel. I had the 30-30 I shot right in front of him to scare him off he went 20 yards off the barrel and stood there with his hair up I got to put bait in the barrel anyway yep I kept my eye on him. He is a nice bear today I could see the creese on his mellon.
Alexis- Maybe I should have arrowed that pumpkin head, it sure would have made refilling the bait site easier.
Theres always next year Adam, hope your trip home is going well. Just finished skinning a bear with Allan one of his guys got one, black nice coat a medium size.
That's good to hear. We made it home in one shot last night and pulled in at 11 PM.
Thanks again for everything. See you next spring.
That's good we will keep in touch.

For all of you that are wondering if there is a possibility of shooting a big bear in the area that Desjardins Outfitting hunts take a look at the 2 bears in this short trailcam video. Seeing one of these guys will definitely get your heart pumping!!
This is Adam and his son Blaine they wanted to do some videoing the night before they left. Marcel is out in the stand tonight he figured he seen 9 different bear last night, waiting for the giant he seen 2 nights ago .
A small color there is quite a few around.
Marcel took a black last night 268 lbs good bear he was hunting with Allan. I have 5 guys coming in tomorrow it is hot in Manitoba today 34 celsius the bears are still after the bait good today, 14 out of 15 guys took bear home so far hoping for another good week.
The mosquitos and American dog ticks are out with this warm weather blood sucking little rascals.
This is the last week for spring hunters, Joanne is the first women that we ever had bear hunting with us. This is this weeks crew, Some are trophy hunters, and some are looking for color.
Hopeing to get to weigh another one of these this week.
This one is going to be in trouble if the color hunters see it.
Roy is up there in the bush waiting for a color he sat up there last night and seen half a dozen blacks, he came out a little early we have a color come in right after he came out on camera what he was looking for. Maybe tonight.
Back in there is the frog pond bait, this is one of the best springs we've had for bear numbers at the baits. Daniel was out last night also in the stand he seen 8 bear at one time on the bait all blacks also looking for a color.
While I was waiting for the guys last night this cow elk was enjoying the green grass, she has already lost most of her winter hair.
Joanne and Greg are up in this stand Joanne wants a color also, I maybe skinning a color tonight.
I think they will see a few on this bait tonight.
Nothing like a hand shake to settle things.
The colors from the last two days are just 2.5 to 3.5 years old.
No phone calls yet from the bear harvesters its 7;30 I think within an hour things will change. good night to all.

Yes Jacksons, tell Dan not to boil the skull put it in bettles if possible. Its hunting Randy they are a lot heavier in the fall, we will talk soon I will give you a call. The boys are still at her today we are getting a little rain right now maybe skin a couple bears today.
Randy, there is a link on Desjardinsoutfitting.com now to the Longhunter Society minimum score for muzzleloader.I would think Dan's bear should score pretty high up.
I will check it out joe thank you for info.
