It's actually a "Rage" auto-fill feature.
Whenever "Rage" appears in a thread, a box will pop up from which you can select your favourite Rage bashing phrases. Select up to three negative comments.
You can submit suggestions for subjects for future consideration, such as cross bow, mechanicals, light arrows, long shots, etc, etc.
It's best if advice or opinions have little to no real evidence to support them.
I hope it's not soemthing that shows how long we have been a member or how many posts we have made. That would only confirm how much time I have spent on here over the past 10 or 12 years...

I am gonna break the News Pat, I just can't keep it to myself. Besides I know you have had a really busy week.
Here it is:
Bowsite has purchased Facebook and the two sites will be merged immediately.
And now the backstory.
Mark Zuckerberg is famous for having announced that he is only going to eat what he personally kills. That attitude lead him to Bowsite where he sought out and met Pat. Pat was none too impressed and told Mr Zuckerberg that he has too many liberal friends for his liking. Zuckerberg offered to buy Bowsite but Pat scoffed at his "insulting offer" of a mere $1.35 billion. Pat is reported to have said that he has rejected bigger offers that that from Jake.
Zuckerberg was perturbed and challenged Pat to a duel, Pat of course agreed as long as he was allowed to choose the weapons. "Bows at High Noon" said our fearless leader, with confidence.
Zuckerberg predictably picked a crossbow, Pat was just about to argue that it wasn't a real bow but decided instead to propose an alternative contest that both men were more likely to live through.
Pat suggested to the Facebook founder that they shoot targets for controlling interest in each other's company. Pat choose to use a 3D McKenzie Turkey target. Zuckerberg, said, 'how hard can this thing be to shoot?' and agreed.
Pat was shooting his trusty Mathews Bow, Maxima Red arrows and lighted nocks. In the warm-up round he shot a robinhood with his second arrow and the suddenly worried Mr Zuckerberg is repoerted to have said, "that second arrow didn't even hit the target, it just stuck in the first arrow". Pat laughed that confident laugh, which we have all come to know so well.
As "Zuckie", (as Pat had started to call him, because he knew how much he hated it) was ready to start shooting, Pat reminded him to keep his thumb out of the way. Zuckerberg muttered something about a turkey being so easy to hit that "even a guy from Abalama can do it" and then proceeded to miss the target entirely when he jerked the trigger.
The shooting contest itself was somewhat anticlimatic, Pat outshot the Facebook founder badly, and in an incredible display of Sportsmenship, he offered to allow Mr Zuckerman to keep his Facebook Page, although he did say that he has to change his Status to "Former Owner of Facebook, and crossbow weenie".
So ... that's the big announcement folks, I am sure Pat wanted to tell you himself but he's in Hollywood this week, reportedly busy reading scripts for the Sequel to 'The Social Network'. Rumor is Brad Pitt wanted to play Pat, but Julie objected, I don't think I'll surprise anyone when I tell you that she said the Pitt is nowhere near manly enough.
The site will heretofore be known as FaceBowSite. Your handles and passwords will remain the same.
There is a new sheriff in town folks, he hails from CT and he carries a bow and an AR, Whitetailed Deer and Coyotes are reported to be very worried, Bull Elk not so much.

Replace the current "Dancing with the Stars" system and replace it with "The Voice" where everything is fair and the creme will rise to the tip. Bowsite has the power to wipe hunting magazines off the face of the earth if the best writers could be compensated for their work here based on who get s the most views. It would be know need to hold out details of the hunt because you are planning to submit an artical to some magizine if you could do as well on here. Each person could have his personalised page .
I'm ok with fairness in opportunity just not equality of outcome. The cream could rise to the top and others could be kicked off bowsite. Sounds great to me TBM. I just wonder where you would be.

I belong to a number of car-related forums that use Vbulletin or other similar software. I know Bowsite was developed many years ago when chat boards first started showing up on the internet, and as far as I can tell it hasn't changed much in that time. I only come here now and then, largely because of the lack of functionality and the difficulty in finding what I'm looking for. I've been a member here for well over a decade, as I recall, and really don't visit that much even though bowhunting is a passion for me.
Compared to the other sites I use, Bowsite is sorely lacking in user functionality. Either that, or I just can't figure out how to use what's there :). Sometimes days or weeks go by between my visits, so I can't remember the title of the thread I replied to and therefore can't find other replies. I can't even find a way to see a list of all of my posts, my registration information, or even my "sent" PMs. I sent a message weeks ago for help, asking how I can find my sent private messages and didn't get a reply.
On the other sites I can click on a guy's username and get a link to all of the threads he started, all of his posts, his user profile (date registered, number of posts, location, etc.). I can look at all my PMs, both sent and received, and I can search on any word, username, or whatever. PMs never expire like they do here. I can subscribe to threads and get e-mails when someone posts. I can create a personal album, and a lot more things that improve the user experience. I can see a list of every member, when they joined, when they were last active, and more.
I know for some of you this is the only site you ever visit, and have not experienced what else is out there. Sorry for the criticism, but this is an honest observation from a guy who usually spends every day on chat boards like this. I like what Bowsite has to offer from the members that make it what it is, but it's just sorely out-dated and there are much better options out there.
Personally I think this software should be ditched altogether, and something like Vbulletin that has all the built-in functionality used to replace it. The other sites I use are free as well, and sponsor ads pay for the software and administration. I'm pretty sure the owner of one of them makes a ton of money from sponsors.
Bowsite is a great resource, just not very user-friendly, imo. Again, I'm just offering some constructive criticism. Bash away!

I don't care how many posts a person has or when they joined. Which does make it harder to keep your fan base up with all you're doing.... but as mentioned... there are other places for that. I agree with TD. The only thing that I have previously desired from xring's post is the ability to keep and view older and sent PMs.
IMHO, I believe Pat intentionally keeps the advertising bearable on this site, so as not to water down the actual content. This of course means he's working from a somewhat limited budget. I'm wondering if some of these other bovine waste sites receive the amount of posted photos and videos that this one does? I don't visit other hunting sites, because from what I've read/heard it would be pointless and aggravating for me to do so, so I really don't know what gets posted on other sites. What I do know is that all this takes up server space. Also, several things mentioned as desired are already available.
Or, maybe I am way off base and Pat is becoming insanely rich off this site...
This is a forum, not a chat and it's home grown and maintained, not a packaged version like 99% of the forums on the net. Honestly, I've never found another forum like Pat's anywhere. I like his format and keeps out a lot of unwanted pointless replies to boost thread counts. This makes newcomers feel more welcome to post because its not overrun with forum bullies/hogs.
Tough to improve something that is already the best in it's league.
I was going to refrain from posting something, but xring's post made me change my mind. I am also a member of TexasBowhunter.com. They have all the bells and whistles xring spoke of, but the content is mostly .....uh......crap. No way to make it sound better, it's just facebook for rednecks. Those guys will post about what beer they are drinking, what they are having for dinner, etc. That's okay I guess, but every day ? I am just fine with Bowsite just like it is. My two cents.

This would save a lot of typing for guys doing the live hunts in the fall and would cover 95% of the situations. in those cases where something out of the norm happened the hunter/poster could just inject that in the appropriate place in the script and take it from there.
the 2.0 version of the template could come with automatic "good luck", "better to be hunting than working", "I wish I was out there", "hang in there if it was easy it would be called shopping" type posts sprinkled in between each of the hunter posts for an added touch of realism.

Actually, wasn't Pat talking about some sort of enhancement having to do with rack sizes last fall? I thought it went along with his guessing the rack poll/feature, but that's a few years old. Or maybe I dreamed it.
rack enhancement? this is a bowhunting site, not a plastic surgery site
Knife2aharp - the rack size enhancer was already implemented from Alabama. It automatically adjusts the inferior rack score from a buck taken in a lesser state- to a buck taken in the big mid-west states. I shot a stud of a buck grossing 158" as an 8 pt in NJ last year that otherwise would have maxed out at 110". One of the greatest bowsite posts ever written and really helps us guys in states not starting with the letter "i" or "k" or "o". :)
I do know where TBM hunts, all the 70" - 110" bucks are equivilent to monster bucks every where else. Must be a sub-species thing.

Maybe it's a way to score bowsiters on success and learn who the go too guys are on here.
For Immediate Release:
The new 'Functionality' is that immediately upon hitting: "Submit Message" the new upgraded and updated system will immediately SCORE your post.
You will receive grades on such things as spelling, grammar, vocabulary and a newly developed category called: 'Interestingness'. Scores on all categories along with the handle of the poster will appear on the main page, helping you decide whether or not you wish to open and read a particular thread.
Perhaps even more useful will be additional Categories, where posts are rated for things such as:
-'Usefulness/Accuracy of Information Provided'
-'Controversy Level'
-'Relevance (to your Interests)'
-'Sarcasm'
and finally: -'Humor'.
I have it from a reliable unnamed source that the hold up in the release of this new function is due to difficulty the System is having with determining the Humor Score.
Apparently the computers are having trouble differentiating between unintended humor and deliberate attempts at jokes.
Because of this the Bowsite Computers cannot distinguish between something which is funny because they are laughing WITH you, and something funny because they are laughing AT you. I'm sure you can understand, and we can all think of people who fall into both categories.
Be sure and be very careful Bou' as the 'Edit' option is gone----

Ace killed it with that post about 800posts back! Bou had a good point on mobile hunts.... I like em.. but his points a good one. Given the state of CT has to be 85% of mobile hunts... maybe Bou's rule could apply only those of is who occasionally post live hunts from CT :-D
Was the new functionality the auto spell checking and right click to correct? Or am I one of the observant ones who never noticed it staring me in the face?
