These pictures were taken about a mile from my uncle's house about a week ago. I realize there's no frame of reference for size but he looks like a big bear to us. I'm curious what people who know bears think he might weigh. Thanks!

And no, unfortunately I don't know how far that feeder is off the ground.

Looks like a nice sized bear and he'll definitely pack on more weight by fall. 300-350 maybe(just a guess)

That bear will weigh a lot more than 350. He is a stud!

I think Bou'bound may well be right. It's always tough to give an accurate estimate but that bear is in the real,PA monster category.

Living in Pike County Pa i get to see a lot of bears. Without some point of reference it is pretty hard to say how much he weighs but with what we can see he is for sure in the 500Lbs plus range, and that is now in late summer. Look at the head on him, the placement of the ears and the neck. About 8 years ago we had a bear near us that the Game Commission estimated could push 900 lbs by fall. I saw him several times including in my yard. According to the "experts" they said he could put on 200lbs leading up to denning up. This bear has a head that looks similar but again no point of reference. We never did get that bear. The closest we ever came was one night before the season started I saw him go into a little swamp about 3-4 acres. The next morning we got 3 bears out of that swamp and he wasn't one of them! If someone had gotten him we would have heard. We think he probably denned up one year and never woke up

I agree with Jim here... this thing is a giant. That short snout and big head just make his body look even larger. He will easily go 500 lbs this fall.

A couple of the local guys had said 500+ and it's cool to hear there's some that agree. This is NW PA in Crawford County so we don't have the amount of bears they do out east but this year seems to be a bumper crop of them with more being seen than I've ever heard of before.

Cheque, Same up here by us, I've seen more bears this year than in the past. Sow's with cubs, sow's with yearlings and just individual bears. Seems like they are all over.

Shooter. That's all that needs to be said. As George Chase said to me one time. "Just shoot the "F"ing bear".

Trust me bowhunt1, if he only weighed 100 lbs it wouldn't save him if I got a shot at him. No bait, no dogs, and only an 8 day season (4 archery and 4 rifle) do that to me.

Good luck Cheque. I hope you get an opportunity at one.

Awesome bear, huge! I never weigh my bears so I have no idea?

tiny ears = huge bear, that is an undisputable fact. The birdfeeder is enough reference for me and I have all too much experience with bears over 500 lbs and have seen one confirmed at 725 just feet away from my jeep, in my yard... That bear is closer to 600 than he is 350....

That's one big bear. I've seen one in the wild that was later trapped by the PGC and weighed in at 630. The bear in the pic looks just as big, but without any references in the pic it is hard to say for sure. However, I'd wager $ that he is on the north side of 500.

Easily over 500, I don't think he'd fit in my tacoma bed. We have monsters here in PA, they're just a bit difficult to hunt with the short season sometimes.

I am from PA too and that is 1 big bear. I was at a state park a few weeks ago and there was a retired WCO who often helped Gary Alt trap and tag bears giving a bear "presentation". He is also a Maine bear guide now so he knows bears pretty good. Anyway the thing that I thought was most interesting was once the radio collared bears reached 8 or 9 years old they were completely nocturnal and therefore very hard to kill. If true then to me making drives is probably the best and maybe the only way to get a shot at most of the big bears. Of course a few dumpster divers get shot each year that can be patterned.

Nice big bear. My guess is he is over 500. His head is behind a 4x4 post and just looks incredibly massive.

If circus calls it huge; its big enough to shoot. That dude kills some real nice bears up here.
