Jade drew his MN tag this year. He's come A LONG way in the last 18 months. His health and strength are back to normal, he only has some memory and confusion problems at times. He's a strong, determined kid. He started his first job bagging groceries this Summer too. He's on the road to becoming a man....
So this is the bear that's hitting one of our baits. We have a ton of daytime pics too, but these videos really show his size. Season opens 9/1. Wish him luck!

2 nights in the woods now-poured rain the first, and hailed and rained on night two. Bears in our area don't seem to like rain. You can hear some acorns dropping now too-which means trouble for the baits. We'll be back up there tomorrow.

Had a small one come in at about 3:30, while we were getting in the stand. Had a good boar cone in after it was to dark to shoot, while waiting for my buddy to pick us up :-( back at it today

You have posted one success photo already: Jade in the tree stand with his bow! That is awesome after what he and your family went through. I have my fingers crossed that we see another success photo with a big bear and Jade!!

Well-Jade made it happen tonight. It wasn't the bear we were after, but this one came in and we could clearly see something was wrong. Jade made the decision to shoot. He made a great shot and it only went 50 yards. Here it is missing it's bottom jaw and tongue.
Pretty proud of this kid!

This is kind of graphic, but the entire lower jaw and tongue was missing. We don't know what happened, but guessing it got into a fight. Poor thing wouldn't have made it much longer.

A buddy evidently had this bear come in opening night, but they didn't see that it was wounded. I'm so glad Jade decided to put this bear out of it's misery. There's no way it would have made the Winter IMO.
