Got it done in BC with Bolen & Lewis! Sitting at the airport in Terrace waiting to fly home to Texas. So rewarding when all your preparation pays off. I will add photos as time allows on the way home.

Flew in on the 24th. First hunt day was scheduled for the 25th. Woke up to rain and it rained most of the day. Shot my bow some and watched hunting videos most of the day waiting for the weather to clear, but it never did. My guide, Ben, took me Salmon fishing late Monday evening. Skeena River.

Tuesday, August 26th. Another rainy day with low clouds. Luckily, the clouds broke by late afternoon and we were able to get out. First super cub ride!

As soon as I got to base camp, we got our packs ready and started up. It was almost a 4 hour hike (climb!!!) and we were using headlamps for the last hour of it. Luckily the terrain was not too bad and safe to walk by headlamp. The first three hours were very steep and could not be done in the dark. So glad I trained hard for this hunt to get where we needed to be in time..
At spike camp, we got our tent up, ate some mountain house spaghetti, and turned in for the night. Neither Ben nor I had trouble sleeping.

We still had a 1000' climb to the top before we started hunting the ridges. As soon as we crest the top, Ben spots a couple of goats to right. They are in a bad spot so we head along the ridge to the left. Here is my guide, Ben.

After several hours and seeing several more goats, Ben spots a lone Billy headed to bed. We watch him kick out his bed for his afternoon nap. It is 12pm. Ben takes his time to remember all the important landmarks. We get to the spot where we can head down and drop our packs. The stalk is on. The Billy is 750' below us against a cliff. Ben says when we see him, it will be close. Here is the view on my stalk down, breathtaking!

Ben and I crept out to where he was suppose to be. We couldn't see him. We backed out and dropped down to the next bench, still no goat. Ben knew it was the first bench. We went back up and walked a little further out ( a little more than I was comfortable ). Ben whispered...."he's right there, he's right there...... like 10 yards". I still couldn't see him. Ben held my bow and I stepped down two more steps. He handed me my bow and I drilled him at 10 yards. He bolted from his bed and ran underneath us. I put another in him straight down into his right lung. The billy ran around the corner and looked very sick. We knew we had my goat. Smile time.

My Billy ended up falling, as a lot of goats do. But, mine fell into a 500' hell hole. It took some time, but we got down to him. It was miracle his horns did not break. We piled up some rocks to prop him up to keep him from sliding. The scenery behind him was spectacular.

Thursday, August 28th.
We woke to some fog but got all our stuff together and started down. I am still amazed how strong Ben was, as his load was much heavier. Ben you're a BEAST in the mountains!
Loaded and Ready! A heavy pack sure feels good when you've had success.
