Opening Day NY Bear Kill

So yesterday was opening day for black bear (any weapon) in the southern zone of NY. We have some nice blueberry thickets that these bears love along with some wild apple trees. The bear trails are pounded down from use.
My dad and i decided to hunt together so I attached my climber along side the hang on stand. Around 630 pm during a rain storm this nice boar came in and I hit him with a 20 yard shot.
He went about 10 yards and died within 5 seconds.
He weighed 246 pounds.
My father filmed it with his phone, I'm going to try and post it.

Wow....what a satisfying feeling that much be to get it done like that, that early, on that good of a bear, with your dad there, too.

Southern zone early bear is open now. This is a Sullivan county bear. I used a German kinetics 125. Blew right threw him and buried into the ground without any damage to the head.
Writer the best part was being with my dad, never pass an opportunity to hunt with him.
Leo17, not the whole Southern zone. It's only open in 6 or 7 counties.
