Will this Ohio 7 pt make P&Y?

This big 7 pt just showed up on cam recently. I've had the cams running for about 2 months. Don't know where he came from but he's a shooter for sure! Looks old. Please take your best guess and when I hopefully shoot him, I'll tell you all! haha Good luck to everyone! He just shed his velvet today 9/11 also.

no- odds are against a 7 pt. making P&Y. Check the records at the number of 7 pts. that are in the book.

I've always wanted to shoot a big 6! I'll gladly settle for a big 7! haha he sure likes the camera! I have shot bigger deer but won't pass him. For sure!

I would go with IS=23,M=28,total MB=45,G1=4, G1=3, G2=11, G2=10, G3=7 TOTAL GROSS = 131, which is 4" over my initial "eyeball" gross of 127... That buck is older than 3.5, probably older than 5... SHOOTER
I may just have to come visit you in Ohio after all :)

G3 is there - as I have seen with countless photos, when a tine is aiming directly at the camera, it virtually disappears... Look hard, its there but you cannot gauge its size

it looks like a little tiny 1" hook in that pic sureshot, you would never guess it's about 7" long... I thought same at first but eventually it became apparent to me...

No chance, for a 7 point to make it he would have to be HUGE, thick and (other then the 7th point) very symmetrical.
I saw a massive 6 point in the park 20 years ago, that probably would have made P&Y. Thick and 18 inches inside.

Thanks Jack for posting! I shot this buck at 7:34 AM yesterday, opening day in Ohio. Shot looked good slightly quartering towards. I had a ton of smaller bucks sparring and feeding in front of me so I just enjoyed the show and figured I'd climb down when they left. Once they did I checked my arrow. All gut...I backed out and gave him 4 hours figuring I'd hit liver maybe a lung and exited gut. Ended up being gut only I guess. Even after finding him the shot placement looked like it had to have hit lung/liver...This was a tough deer! I even brought a blood hound in this morning to try and find him with no luck. It wasn't till I got home all sweaty and cut up from briars when my land lords yelled to me to look at all the buzzards flying around in the power line clearing. Sure enough he was in the tall grass dead about 60 feet off the cleared portion. The dog had walked right by him! He was about 600 yards from where I shot him and in the complete opposite direction from the direction the sparse blood trail led. I do however have a small pond right behind my place and as far as I know is the only water source around. We also haven't had rain in probably 2 weeks. I figure he tried to make it there. I had taken off my sweaty, bloody shirt when they said look at all the buzzards so I ran over immediately to see if it was him. I did clean up and grab my bow for some quality field shots but didn't realize there was no memory card in the camera. lol I had already caped him out before I realized that. The meat stunk unfortunately but I'm very happy I found him none the less!

He's only 20.5" wide inside which really surprised me! He has better mass than I thought though.

Still think he will gross over the 125" minimum but the obvious deductions on his left side for the G3 and longer beam will net him below down to around 120 I think.

Hmmm we are working on the green score gross totals and it seems we all my be a little low. Lot more mass than anticipated and beams are 23 & 24 ". Surprisingly inside spread only 20" it is deceiving I think the way that g2 sticks way out to the side creates illusion he is wider than that. Matt working on final results I had to double check how to measure the side missing the G3 - you split the diff from g2 and tip and count it twice.

47" in beams and 35.5" mass = stud in any state. After it dries he gonna be very close. Nearly 12" in deductions. Who cares about net anyway. So rediculous.

Nice buck but you took to many mass measurements. Only 2 tines on right means only 3 measurements.

"Buck Watcher you get 4 mass measurements per side no matter how many points. Spike gets 4 and a 16 pointers gets 4". 100% correct and I did explain how it works. If buck only has g1& g2- you take the h3 mass measurement between the g2 and top of antler. Now for the h4 mass measurement you simply take the h3 value and use it again. On a spike you would take one measurement between base and tip 4 different times!

The meat was no good...unfortunately and the dog was a blood hound. The guy wasn't very confident in the dog because it hadn't been trained in over a year. He had become more of a house pet. But I figured it'd be worth a try!
