Ok, this might be pushing things a bit, but here goes. I'm going to put up 3 pictures of a buck that keeps appearing on my camera.
The first gives an idea of his mass, the second his spread, and the third his height.
Please guess his score. We'll use his gross for what comes next....
IF I happen to be fortunate enough to get him, I will give a $25 gift card from Cabelas or some other retailer of your choice to the person who guesses closest.
I know that getting him is a long shot, and it will be another couple weeks before things really start cranking up around here, but I figured maybe I could jinx myself into getting him by making the gift card offer....

Wow, I bet he has less than an inch in dedcutions, 156 4/8" gross. Based on mass and body size he looks to be about an exception 3 1/2" year old.

It's hard to be patient with a deer like that running around out there!
I'd love to get out after him sooner rather than later.
But that one day in late September was the only time he was ever on the camera in daylight, and going after him too soon will only teach him too much about me!
Even so, I sure wish I'd been in the stand on the evening of Sept 30!

If you bone out the ribs and shanks and trim the neck and shoulders pretty close, he's good for 68 pounds of boneless venison.

I started after him last night. I think I saw him last night at about 100 yds, but it was dark enough that I was just climbing down from my stand, so I'm not positive.
Still warm here, not much craziness in the woods, and no dead deer on the highways yet. But I'll be out after him quite a few times over the next couple of weeks, so hopefully....
