Could be a new state record.

Borderline shooter :) congrats and I'm glad he smiled on at least on picture!

Wow! What a buck. Congratulations to the hunter.

23-Oct-14
Amazing buck. Congrats to the hunter.

I suck at scoring. Anyone care to offer their guess on what this buck would score?

That buck will hold up to the hype. Not many clean racks left but that buck will take World Class Tines close/ into 190.

Beams/Spread seem average and the if those basal points are longer than 1" then it probably will be short of state record.....that said.....wonderful buck by this young man!

If all is legit, and it most certainly may be, we're well into the 190s or above.

That's a true 6X6 without a lot of deducts.

Great deer...also glad to see a smile.

Jones, of Cowley, Kan., said the 12-point typical whitetail grossed more than 190 inches. Estimated guesses place the net score for this buck around 200 inches. If Jones’ gross score is accurate, the buck is in close range to the state archery record of 193 7/8. On Monday, Jones wrote on his Facebook page that he is taking the buck to an official Boone & Crockett scorer in Junction City, Kansas. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.

Beauty of a buck & actually looks like a younger deer. I really admire a huge clean typical.

The kid (Colziah) said it would be low 190's. He had patterned him on a scrape line. Shot him Sunday. Thought to be 5.5 yrs old. Awesome deer!

The buck scored 191 1/8" before the 60 drying period. Another prostaff member for midwestwhitetail took the pictures and posted them on facebook.

It HAS been green scored... 191 1/8 (according to sources)

By the way..: what is the Kansas typical record? Close to 200"?

23-Oct-14
193 7/8 is the Kansas state record someone mentioned above. Wow! Jaw dropper.

All weapons is 198 and change, shot in 1974, I think.

A couple of larger bucks have been poached. Boone and Crockett lists a poached buck as our state record.

Sicksender: Great observation and that is why Mel Johnson's World Record Typical Whitetail has stood since 1965. As they age abnormal points come! I'm sure the guy will properly age the deer but I bet its 4.5 or 5.5! Really nice! C

Looks like the buck is carrying its ribcage on its head.

I did see one similar to that, but wider, back in 1984, in late October, in the Smoky Hill River bottom near Fort Wallace, in Wallace County.

Not that I remember any of that, at all. Sigh.......

Now, that is a buck! Very nice animal and that would be very hard to top! Minus the non-typical stuff he should net in the high 180's I'd think. This Bow hunter did GOOD!!

"It must be legit. 35 posts before someone says he has seen the buck before in another state or province."

I did not say the buck was not legit. I saw it posted on Facebook by R. Thornberry as taken by an unidentified hunter in Canada. That is all I am saying and making in accusations or inferences.

I have a great idea for another website... A "SNOPES FOR HUNTING"... Specific to hunting, a team of researchers can vet out every story of a giant game animal taken in North America, to verify it's authenticity....
