Passed up this guy this morning..... Guessing him around 150" give or take. Never gonna shoot a 170" if ya shoot the first 150" that strolls around.

Do you NEED to take a deer to eat? If so you really screwed up. Have you taken good bucks in the past? If the answer is yes you can be content in your decision. Although I would have taken this buck in a heartbeat I can say one of my best trophies is in a shot I chose not to take. I hope you get a monster you are proud of.

If its not a deer you want to take how can you regret it? If shooting a deer that size is a letdown then don't shoot it.

I blew the photo up ... I think you might be right. G2 is only maybe 7" ... G3 is 9 ... G4 is 5 and although he has great main beams, he's a bit thin
I think you're right, 150 buck, young buck?
How close did you get to him ?

Yeah he'll put on mass and be a hammer next year.
But I'd shoot AKA "probably miss" him this year.

You know, a wall full of 150s looks better than a wall with one 170, though.

I'm still working on my 170". Might take another ten years.

I don't blame you one bit. That said, he'd be hard to pass. I just shot my best archery buck this year at 154 after more than 35 years bow hunting and passing a lot of smaller bucks. 170+ is still a dream though! Good luck!

I just looked up your trophy photos and if I were you, I wouldn't regret it one bit. Part of the fun of trophy hunting is those fine line animals and as those saying goes, "you will never shoot a big one if you shoot a small one first." Although "small"l is pretty relative here.

It was only my second time out in this area when I saw him. He's gonna be hard to pass again... I have a trail cam pic of one a bit bigger... That's the main reason I passed. Haven't seen the big one yet though. The rut is just getting started here so hopefully soon it'll happen.

Well I couldn't pass him again.... 151 7/8"
I think he's at least 4.5 years old. Looking back I think I have some pics of him in december 2012 and picked up his shed this spring.

I took this pic in late December 2012. I think it's the same deer. I'll post a few different angles.

I wonder how many "passed" bucks are truly passed or did they just never offer a great shot and the hunters say they passed them. I just know from personal experience that the longer they hang around and the better the shot angle the harder they are to pass....the ones that come clipping right through are easy to pass. I think the ones that are truly passed are the ones that you will pass again and again.

Having to decide on whether to pass on a 150" deer... not that's what I call a good problem to have! Congratulations, great buck.
