Mixed results would make me nervous. Sometimes you have to take negative reviews with a grain of salt, sometimes not...

A friend and I both killed rams there in 2010(archery). We had a good experience.

I did in July 1983, both of us shot good Rams. My partner shot his the first day around 11 pm, I shot mine on the 4th day mid-day.

Don't understand the "mixed results" as I had a great hunt in 2005. Ned you were there in 2004. I booked the hunt with Bowhunting Safari Consultants. Perfect Ram hunt.
Here's a pic from my camp!

even the best outfitters don't go 100 % on archery sheep, that is asking too much!

I hunted there the last year that Greg Williams owned the operation. The ram I took won the FNAWS gold for archery that year and he was maybe the 4rd biggest ram I saw. It was great when I was there. Greg and his guides knew how to find and kill sheep. The area that I was in was good for archery hunting. Of course I only saw as much country as we could cover back packing for 6 days.

Twanger, I hunted the second year that Greg was taking bowhunters, sounds like you hunted where I did, we backpacked in 35 miles. The first 18 bowhunters that hunted with Greg all killed Rams before someone came out without one.

The new mode of transportation is a helicopter which drops you right where you need to be! The Lancaster D Family runs that operation now. They take bow hunters to the Liard Range and the rifle guys generally go elsewhere. When I shot my Ram he was in a band of 9 and the guide and I got to 25 yards of the beded Rams! Everything was first rate! C

They have lost some ground due to the park taking hold of it I have heard. Hope the Liards are still huntable.

Great info all. I appreciate it. As for my initial comment of "mixed results". What I meant was, I had received both good and bad on some of the same outfitters, making it a bit tricky. I suppose that should be expected. All in all, Bowsiters' input has been a HUGE help!!!

I believe that they have lost or will soon lose most if not all of their sheep area including the Liards. It is being made into a park where no hunting will be permitted. What a shame. I did hear that they purchased Eric Michelson's concession (NWT Outfitters) that is also a good sheep area. I hunted with Nahanni many years ago - before Cam passed and had a good hunt. I did recently hear that they were running a lot of hunters through the Nahanni concession in the last year or so, however. I would want to know which concession that I was going to hunt in before I booked and if it was in the Nahanni concession, I would ask about the number of hunters that they have been taking and their present success rates.

I hunted the Liards and it was awesome. I am almost positive they still will be able to hunt them. If so, this is a no brainer. I've heard too many people go and almost all had the same results. Good luck where ever you book.

FYI - I did confirm with Lancaster, and they do indeed still have the Liards. Said they did NOT lose any of this.

Not the "bowhunters" place they claimed to be for me and my partner, but that was 10 years ago. Mike

I hunted the Liard range in 1991, before they used helicopters to take you to the top. A death march would be a good description of the trip up the mountain and to the actual hunting area. Plenty of rams but lots of issues with the outfitter and guides. Outfitter had an almost complete turnover of guides the year before I went and it really showed as very few rams were killed the year I went when in previous years they were running well over 50% kill rate.
