I am suspicious as to whether this was actual wild cat or not. Evidently residents noticed it in a tree in broad daylight.

Was the cat actually in a tree in a neighborhood? Article doesn't' say.

The article says this: "One of my neighbors called, she was a bit distraught. Cause like, who sees a mountain lion in a tree?" said Rick Mattox. He called for help after his neighbor stumbled upon the mountain lion while walking her dog. With no tranquilizers on hand and daylight dwindling, KY Fish and Wildlife officers euthanized the cat.

I read that part, but in parts of Kentucky the neighbor could be a quarter mile or more away, and while walking a dog it could have been on a dirt road more in the countryside.

I just watched the video a couple times and it is a pretty rural neighborhood, and the news said it was found in a tree on a farm. Houses weren't close like I think of when I hear or see the word neighborhood.

No matter what, it will be interesting to see if the necropsy says it was a wild cat or a "pet" that got loose.

Here's the link. I wonder if it was "planted" like the ones found here in KS?

I suspect it was a pet. I knew a few guys who had 2 african lions back about 10 years ago. They were pretty wild guys and I can only imagine how many deer they killed to feed them.

Word is, it is a tame release or escape. Waiting for DNA to come back.

Yes....we have a Paris, a London, a Manchester, an Athens and even Possum Trot. Paris is in Bourbon County and that is where the cat was.

Funny, Bourbon County Kansas gets its name from bourbon. :-)

Has there been any determination yet as to whether it was wild or escapee?
