Osceola Outfitter Recommendations
Turkey

I’m starting to research outfitter options for an Osceola hunt. I’m not interesting in applying for the public land quota hunts. I just want to make one trip and punch my tag on an Osceola sometime within the next few years. Any information on some good, no-frills outfitters would be much appreciated. Any posts or PM’s would be welcomed.
Thank you.
I know a lot of guys on here have hunted FL for their Osceola. Please feel free to share who you hunted with and how the experience was. Thanks!
Never hunted with him, but have heard nothing but good things on Hoppy Kemper (sp). I will let you know how mine goes when I get back too
I'm headed to Florida in three weeks. My first time, if you want me to I'll let you know how it goes.
Greg so am I. Where are you going?
Where you guys going? I am going to be in Sanford Florida area. Hunt starts March 21, hopefully second time is a charm
Thanks guys finally some life to this post! :)
Good luck to all who will soon be hunting the famous swamp gobblers. Please do post how your hunt goes when you return.
Please keep the recommendations and posts coming on top notch outfitters. Thanks.
Give triple outfitters a call. Matt is a great guy and will put you on birds..... I will be down there in may doing some hog/ gator hunting with a different outfitter who also does turkey hunts. Once I hint with the guy I will report back.... I never give a recommendation unless I hint with the outfitter
Alabowma, I'm going to Ocala FL with Jack Whitehurst.
Thanks kyhunter13! Good luck on your hunt, let us know how it turns out.
I'm going with Ratso at Florida Backwoods. I've heard a lot of good things and I'm very excited about the hunt.
Hi Full_Curl,
I completed my NA Slam with Osceola Gobblers near Chiefland, Florida. They have some very good private properties they hunt and Mark Mann and his partner are both great guys.
PM if interested and I can send you contact #'s.
Good Luck,
Terry.
Ratso is a good guy and good turkey hunting
Thanks Brad. As you know this is a big investment and it's been nice getting positive feedback on his outfit.
Good luck to all. This is my second trip as last year, due to horrible weather and the inability to hunt the area we were effectively, as we had to use tide levels to get into the swamp we only hunted one day.
This year we are going to a new area with better access all day. They been seeing turkeys all day so should be a good hunt.
Plus it will be nice to get out of this frozen hell hole called Wisconsin.
Give ya'll a south report tomorrow.Should be good weather is hot but so are the birds.
Few more photos to get things going.
Looking forward to tomorrow been along time since last season.Standby
March 21 can't cone fast enough
Thanks Rockbass - Good luck and I'll be in touch!
Great photos Dollar... definitely teasing us guys still dealing with winter's wrath up north here :)
Anybody with any other outfitter recommendations please post.
All you guys hunting the swamp gobbler this year... GOOD LUCK and please post how your hunt goes.
Well we broke the ice this morning with a good bird. Not a bow kill but a good bird on a tough day.Weeks of hot to warm weather and light winds and last night cool front goes thru and its 20 degrees cooler and windy.Birds shut down no vocals and little to no movement. But were patient and took a good 4yr old. Won't bother again til we get a bow kill but thought y'all would like to see a opening day bird.
Nice bird dollar! I need one of those osceolas
Ted Jaycox with Tall Tine Outfitters was outstanding when I went with him for Osceola's. We had a big tom come in to the decoys within 2 hours on the first morning. He probably would have been there immediately after flydown except for the heavy rain that cleared up just before he appeared. If I hadn't shot him, there was a group of about 8 only 150 yards away and on their way too.
WOW beautiful bird .being from california we dont see that tail color. ,A big congrads from QQ Archery hoping for the same luck in 18 days and counting
CONGRATS Dollar. Great looking bird! I definitely need one of those some day!
Thanks MBMule.
I contacted Ted Jaycox back in December but he was already full for this spring. He recommended another outfitter which I am hunting with in two weeks. If anyone is planning on hunting with Tall Tine Outfitters book early. I have heard nothing but good things about them.
T minus 11 days and will be back in Fl chasing swap birds cant wait.
Three weeks until the KS youth season, then another for archery season.
Jealous of all you swamp bird chasers! Good luck!!
Leaving tomorrow for hunt with Tall Tine.
Watch your back when you come south!!
Great spurs, something Osceola's are well known for.
What's the story with the cat and the decoy, please?
Now that is something I have not had come into my decoys!!!!
Tall Tine Outfitters are the BEST EVER. 100% going on many years. Must BOOK early as he is usually BOOKED. Great guy and hunting land. A+++++++++++++
Dollar - awesome daggers! He could do some damage with those!
Cool cat photos. That sure is something you don't see everyday.
arebowhunt - 10-4. Thank you!
T minus about 3 days and be chasing swamp gobblers. Good luck to all.
7 days for me but who's counting!!!
Tall Tine - Jaycox. You won't find better. Period.
Hoppy Kempher of Osceola Outfitters.
I have been going on a hog hunt there every year for 12 years now. The amount of turkeys I see on his property is just amazing. The ranch is 25,000 acres and is just amazing. Great people too.
I went down this past weekend with my 9 year old for the youth opener. I had birds gobble both days and had them coming in twice, but we couldn't close the deal. Birds were pretty cautious where we were. Heavy fog on the second morning kept them tight lipped on the roost.
Hell with the new NWTF dividing lines you can kill an Osceola right up to the Ga. line what a money grabbing joke.Lewis
Hell with the new NWTF dividing lines you can kill an Osceola right up to the Ga. line what a money grabbing joke.Lewis
Lewis, you mean the turkeys don't stop breeding if they cross a particular line?
Yes on the grab, it's also a grab at notoriety to say someone has shot a grand slam. (Which I and my kids have.....:-) )
T minus about 15 hours till hunt starts
thanks guide is picking me up at 5am. that is going to come early with the badgers playing at 920 pm.
Badger win, big bird down by 8 a.m.
A very happy nappy to follow as you get ready for Sunday.
Good luck bghunter! Go Badgers and zap one of those big ol' swamp strutters in the a.m.!!!
Writer I have several slams but still think it was wrong to move the old boundaries up so far north those birds have about as much Osceola blood in them as my Lab Oh well that's the way it goes these days NWTF and outfitters made out great Lewis
Wow what a day. I am wiped out. Got my bird at about 230 p.m. 8 hours in a swamp in almost 90 degree weather. Try and post more later but second time a charm
I've got to do the Florida thing here soon one Spring...
Ike
I love it down here be it hunting biwfishing or relaxing. After a long wi winter it is worth it. Since I tagged my turkey been hanging out at pool enjoying a few beers and sun. Better then 30 and snow
congrats bg!
you got a great weekend opener for weather
put up pics when you can peel yourself away from pool!
I will try and get some pictures up. Beard turned out to be 10 inches with spurs just of 1 1/4 inch spurs. Tail feathers look like hell as I shot him in about 7 inches of water.
He was a true swamp bird. I know there is a shotgun in the photo and that is a big no no to some on bowsite, but it was the only photo I have right now
Looks like you drowned him!! Congrats bghunter! That's one waterlogged bird.
Goodness, at 8# per gallon of water, that tom must have weighed 39#s!
yea it was a true swamp gobbler. Only dry ground on property I think was where the blind was. I may have even missed him, but scared him enough he drowned :)
bg hunter, did your guide carry a shotgun? I'm starting my osceola hunt tomorrow afternoon and my guide said he will bring a shotgun. Maybe I need backup in case of a charge from a wounded gobbler!
Almost forgot, big congratulations on a nice turkey!
Now those are some spurs!!! Congratulations!
Ratso with Florida Backwoods got me my biggest bird. I highly recommend his operation!
I still can't get over how great my hunt went with Florida Backwoods!
I'm heading down to hunt with Ratso at Florida Backwoods here in 10 days. Congrats on your awesome Osceola, Alabowma. I sent you a PM, by-the-way.
Congrats on the nice bird. Seems like bowsiters are doing pretty good on swamp gobblers this year.
Wholaverj I sent you a PM. Feel free to call me and I will give you any additional information.
Thanks!
