It describes how to add topo data to google earth. Now, I can drop pins at all my interesting spots. Then, I can hide the topo layer and go back to the normal google earth view.
I don't know if this will help other folks but it made my life MUCH easier...

Save the file to your GE hunting folder and open in GE. It'll take a minute to load.
