First hunt of the year.
Dad tells me that he's had a nice bachelor group hitting the alfalfa every night since Friday. Good wind so I climbed a tree tonight. Hope I picked where they are coming in.

Tonight's 3:10 update is getting stung by a bee. Had to be the release finger too. Typical.
Got here early since I didn't know where I was going to hang on. Another hour until dad says he ever sees them.
Hopefully finger doesn't swell huge.

Just blew it on a big boy. Didn't see another buck when I drew. He took off but not far. Maybe will circle back. Nice big wide buck.

8 bucks here now and the darn big one is gone. I just never saw that other buck. As soon as I drew he blew and both ran.

Got a truck ride out as deer were everywhere. Big one showed back up about 10 min before dark. He had entered the field about 120yds downwind of me after the mishap.
When he came in he was about 40yds behind me and a good of bit above me. I waited until he was behind a deadfall and about 26-28yda behind me to draw. Other buck just blew and that was it.
Got to watch him in binos then for a while in field while some young bucks were sparring. Lots of snorting and suck going on.
All and all my best first day ever. ExcitInc start to the season

Back at it again tonight. Same spot. Too good not to be back tonight. In later today but way less noise as I left stand here last night. See how it goes. About a 3 hour sit or less if lucky!

If I know anything about crafty old bucks - it's very unlikely you get a shot at same buck a day later in same spot after spooking him. I really hope this guy is the exception! Good luck!

I think you may get another chance at him, if he came back last night after getting blown out by the other deer he could easily come back tonight. You did not buggar him, the other buck did. Two years ago I shot a nice 8pt. who was traveling with an even bigger 8pt. The very next day from the same stand I killed the bigger one. Only reason I did not kill him first was the other one gave me a better shot. Hang in there and let us know! Shawn

Another great evening. I'm going to move slightly for a hunt later in the week but still over this field. 8 bucks there tonight. 2 great 8s. Big guy is actually an 8. He has brow tines that are longest time which makes him look so crazy. Definitely a cool buck.
They got to around 65yds and neighbor came by on 4 wheeler. Would have been fine but he stopped to admire the Bucks he said. Lol. Anyway as we know deer aren't scared of atv until they stop. Still great hunt and got to watch them for 30+ min

Weather looks iffy for the afternoon. Chance or rain. Wind direction is good to head back to my field edge. I'm going to move south about 80 yards and give it a go. Worst that happens is I get wet and see nothing. STILL BETTER than my desk chair.

Just had a button walk right under me. Of course mom gets 10yds from me and starts going all ape sht on me. Hope they didn't ruin the evening. Mom needed to relax. Kids were safe with me.
