Only if he had a matching brow tine and no right side G3. A big symmetrical 6. :).

Brows match but he had a little G3 on the right beam. Almost a big six.

Depends how many days I had left to hunt and how much activity I was seeing. Leaving in a day or two, probably! Shawn

From: Bake

Not me. Not on the last minute of the last day.

From: HerdManager
06-Oct-15
I'll be in IA the second week of November, and I would not shoot that deer even on the last day.

06-Oct-15
If I am hunting in Iowa then no, but if I am hunting in northern Michigan on public land then yes.

From: Thornton
06-Oct-15
If I was visiting and had limited time I would gladly shoot him

From: Scrappy
07-Oct-15
Passed him several times last fall. Whenever you wanted to see him all you had to do was rattle and he would come running. Definitely the neighborhood bully.

From: tobywon

Yes, because I hate bullys...lol

My first hunt in Iowa was 2006 and in 13 days I passed a dozen P&Y bucks and came home with nothing. My best whitetail hunt of all time!

I will be in Iowa from the 28th of October to the 13th of November. That would be my last day buck, my freezer is empty.

So looking forward to this hunt!

Here's a good shot of the body. How old?

From: Mad_Angler
07-Oct-15
Maybe...

I don't follow the "don't pass on first day what you would shoot on last day" rule. On the first day, I am pretty picky. On the last day, I need meat for the freezer.

So first day, I would pass. Last day, I would shoot.

Ok how about this guy in late October in iowa with all your vacation still in front of you? Three different days at under ten yards from October 24th -28th

From: GotBowAz

I highly doubt I could hold off. Id probably shoot.

From: Scrappy

I sure wanted to, but I didn't want to use my tag so soon.

From: Sage Buffalo
07-Oct-15
Are you kidding me? If that's a 10 and you passed him I think you are crazy. Unless you shoot one like that every year which is again CRAZY.

You can go hunt a neighboring state if you are done after that.

The first buck - I would shoot him late in the season after the rut and time winding down but not before.

Sage hate to say it but he was not a ten, he had a kicker coming off his left G1 making him an 11 point.

From: Brotsky
07-Oct-15
Nope, but I never shoot anything so don't listen to me! Ha! I like hunting too much and unless it's memorable I just don't drop the string. I let the wife and kids fill the freezer. I've killed enough in my life, if it screams big or it's special to me and it's been a good hunt then I'll pick up the bow.

From: Scrappy
07-Oct-15
Plus I tried hunting neighboring state before and it is not near as fun as iowa during the rut.

From: greg simon

From: Paul

If I saw that buck in my home state CT not just yes but hell yes!

From: Sage Buffalo
07-Oct-15
How can you not shoot that 11? That's an easy upper 150/low 160 buck.

Not many get bigger than that.

That's awesome!

From: deerman406
07-Oct-15
The second buck I would shoot as soon as the opportunity presented itself. He is around 150" buck all day. I would not hesitate even if he had a 170" near by and I may not get a shot at, I would take him. Shawn

From: wild1
07-Oct-15
That second buck (10/11 pt.) would be down and I'd be eating one of his tenderloins tonight!!

From: Jack Harris
07-Oct-15
Please stop torturing me with 160" bucks I will never seein my lifetime! The day I pass that is the day I take up knitting.

From: Scrappy
07-Oct-15
Jack that's why I moved to iowa. I was never gonna see a big buck in n/e Texas, let alone kill one.

From: stick33
07-Oct-15
I would shoot both of those bucks without hesitation and be thrilled about it. But I'm from MN and it's rare to see a 3 yr old.

From: Sage Buffalo
07-Oct-15
Sorry Scrappy I say this out of all respect but you aren't shooting many bigger than the 2nd with a bow. Now you prob rifle hunt like I do but to pass that 2nd Buck is ridiculous with a bow.

I'm giving you a hard time all out of fun!

Have you shot anything bigger than that with a bow? Just curious.

07-Oct-15
I'd shoot the second one on any day of the hunt, in any state, without hesitation. He is in the 160's. I wouldn't shoot the first one unless the landowner was trying to remove his genetics from the herd. He is mature and, by your description, probably kicking butt keeping the better genetics out of the herd to some degree. So, I'd remove him based on that. If not, I'd watch and enjoy him day 1 or day 5. Unless the freezer was empty. But, I wouldn't go to Iowa to get meat either. So, I'd watch him! God Bless

From: writer
07-Oct-15
Yes and yes, if the hunt was exciting.

Rattled in, or chasing does, yes.

Just walking through, maybe not.

You guys worried about genetics, how do you know which doe to leave and which one to shoot?

They have a lot to do with genetics.

Scrappy let me be clear - you can never get carried away with pics! Haha!

That buck is bigger than all but the first one and it looks like he could be brother/offspring of that one.

All great deer! You are a lucky guy.

Then again you have to get friends to pick up those big, heavy deer. I prefer the ones I can throw over my shoulders.

City stop posting those tiny deer. Really. I mean that deer might go 150. I won't even put an arrow on my string until it hits 180.

Haha. You guys suck.

Although I just scored some land in VA that has some potential to put a 125 in my sites.

Not many big ones down here (NC) but there are a lot of them.

City I don't use game camera's any more and my first hunt of the year is in the morning. Here is a pic of the last year I used a game camera. Never laid eyes on him. Can't wait to get this season started.

From: Scrappy

City do you have a tag this year? I sure hope your right about the bucks. Would love to see them as thick as they were back in 09.

08-Oct-15
So glad to see Cityhunter has proclaimed the EHD problem has passed! Good luck Iowa tag holders! Hopefully next year for me:)

I will say this, you need to find top end ground to make it worth your while and you do that before you apply for a tag!

From: Bake

I'd shoot that 11 on the last couple days, but not the first :)

Good luck this year! Doesn't look like you really need it though :)

Scrappy,

Yes I would probably shoot either one of those bucks.

Then I would put my landowner tag on him & then hold out for a bigger one with my statewide tag;>)

Iowa rocks! Even more if you own land!

09-Oct-15
Heck YES I would shoot.
