Introducing " Tank"
Whitetail Deer
Contributors to this thread:
I had the opportunity to get out to the lease to pull the first run of cards during the opener last weekend.
Low and behold I was happy to see this guy still roaming the area.
I watched him late last year breed a doe only 60 yards away, but over the line, during late now season. I was amazed at the size of his body and it looks like he put on a few pounds!
These pics are about 11 yards behind a new set however all bets are off once the rut kicks in... But I'm hopeful he will try to pin a doe down in this area.
Even though he's only a main frame 8, his age class makes him a trophy in my mind.
It would be great to get a crack at him.
Pretty happy with the Browning cameras also, left them out with 98% battery left since August.
Photo quality is decent as well .
Rich - Great looking buck, sometimes those big bodied deer have ground growth rather than shrink. Good luck this fall, I think IL is going to have an exceptional year for quality bucks.
Sureshot, I have to agree with you based on the cams and results.
Best to you also, good times. Thank you
Less than 3 weeks and I'll be in Illinois for the archery season! Good luck all!
That's a good eight... he will make P&Y.
Good luck! Hope to see a different kind of picture in the next month.
The name fits! I think he is bigger than you think....
Geese oh peets, What do you guys feed these deer?
I absolutely love old, big frame 8 point bucks; that being said please dont call me when you have to drag him out!
I say 230 lbs dressed! That's a biggun... Good luck getting him.
Tank or beff cake....Theyd both get carbon at my place....love those huge bodied monsters!
Mark
Treestand wolf, He's a stud! I agree about his age class. At least 5.5 or older! This is the heaviest and thickest one I have on cam so far this year. I believe he's an older deer as well. at least 5.5.
Those boys be HEAVY
GL this season.
Forest, ya better where earplugs when you arrow that buck, he's liable to go POP!
Here's one from a couple years ago - I didn't weigh him but I'm thinking he's in that 230# + category. I had a devil of a time dragging him out and then loading him in my truck by myself.
Chased this guy a few years ago.
Geez Forest, Tanks brother?
HerdManager, I can't imagine.
Of course, the hopes play through my mind every single day now.
I'm not focusing on just him. I've done that before and it was a mistake.
But there will be no mistaking him if he gets within bow range. :)
There are some heavy weights on this thread.
Nice buck but just avg midwest deer for illinois when they dont get killed at age 3 Illinois deer are transplants from the upper midwest . When mature they look prehistoric walking the timber !!
I hunted a buck like that a few years back on our lease in d'Hannis TX. I got lucky enough to tag him mid season the year after I first saw him - we called the buck I shot bear trap because his antlers looked like a big trap. He dressed over 230 and your deer looks as big if not bigger. Ground growth is a GREAT PROBLEM to have. Hope you get him.
We sure hope for ground growth!
I'd be very happy with this big boy!
Same camera, different deer, he has family in the area. ;)
Tank's headgear is very close to this one. It scored 129 1/8 P&Y.
