FMJ's seem to work fine. I use industrial velcro for all my traditional bows and never had a problem with arrow noise. Shawn

I use those Beman MFX [now the Centershots] and the Axis.....zero noise but I have a fur rest

What is your rest that it makes noise?

Kinetics are nice but get the ballistic collars for them

I use the any of the FMJ, axis, or Bemans. Tried to make them heavier with weight tubes and was very disappointed with the results. Turns out the arrows are fine just the way they are.

25-Nov-15
What kind of noise are they making?

First change the rest. Then get some Easton Axis N- Fused

I use the Carbon Express, Piledriver Pass thru Extremes 250's, thin diameter. Recurve is 48 pounds at 28 inches and the total arrow weight with 45 grain insert and 100 grain broached is 500 grains. Very quick arrows and excellent penetration. C

I know quite a few guys here that are shooting the reds with stick bows and none of them are having trouble with them using everything from Velcro to feather rest.

Well, it is straightforward. You asking about new arrows, which will run you $100+, or you change your rest (I'll bet much less than $100!) If you are dead set on changing arrows, I would recommend getting better spined FMJ's.

"dragging across the rest".

When drawing the arrow???

I think FMJ arrows (10.2 gpi) are good but like aluminum arrow they do bend and after bending a few at the range (missing the target)

So because of this bending factor, I switch to

Gold Tip Kinetic xt (9.5 gpi) (or other simular arrow shafts)

No issue with noise drag as I use bear fur rest with a glue on leather side plate.

If an animal spooks, it is because of my heavy breathing.

My best, Pau

axis and full metal jackets for me. I like a 75 gr brass insert in them and a big head like the 190 Ace Super Express. Rest material is industrial Velcro.

Any of the .204" ID are good. I like the Carbon Express PTX half outs better than the GT Accutough or others. Foot them. Using the Steel Easton RPS inserts with our VPA "6 Series" heads and CTR-Punch Footer Adapters is a pretty sweet set up too.

you could always quiet the rest. :)

but to answer your question, Easton 20/20's were the bomb, haven't seen any in many a year.

Fuzzy, you can still get Easton Legacy XX75 2020's. I agree, 2020's are great heavy arrows out of trad bows.

sealskin rest material is the way to go.

Beats velcro hands down especially in the cold.

Only problem, archery shops no longer sell it. Just buy an old sealskin hat or something off ebay and use the fur from that.

Axis traditionals with 100gr inserts work great for me!

GT kinetics but the outsert sucksunless you either foot it with a piece of aluminum shaft or the ballistic collars that GT sells for them.

From: fisherick

I have been using GT traditional or Beman MFX with seal skin rests and zero noise.

I shoot a Whippenstick Phoenix, 52lb at my 29" draw. Good, quiet hair shelf and strike plate.

It really pops 2117's with 165 grain Grizzlies...no draw noise.

And yeah, 3 Rivers has 2020's.

Put a quieter rest on the shelf & shoot any arrow you'd like.

You can still find the old AFC shafts if you keep an eye out for them I have 6 DZ of the 2540 shafts with components I have never used and probably will list them and sell them in the near future.

I use FMJs and 20 20 legacys . Honestly the Legacys shoot better for me.

God bless, Steve

Shoot off the shelf with some bear hair and you can shoot whatever you want. Wood is the quietest so get some ash, hickory or Douglas fir and your good to go.

FMJ for me. I have used them for the last five years. Out of my #45 bows I use a 500 spine arrow 30" (9.1 gr per ") 75gr brass insert, 200 gr VPA 2 blade 562 total. Quiet as can be out of my bow.

From: md5252

It is that easy (& cheap). What's so hard about putting a thin quiet material like Velcro or moleskin on the shelf/rest?

From: trkytrack
05-Feb-16
Really....just change your rest material.

05-Feb-16
Change the rest material. The old seal skin rest were the best if you can find. No sure if they are legal. You could try a lambskin rest if you are allergic to latex

Is there some type of lubricant (unscented) that you could put on the arrows? Dry silicone perhaps?

From: Hawkeye

Dr. Scholls moleskin at Walmart. Been using for years and makes everything silent while drawing. Made for sweaty feet so moisture has no effect on it. Stays on all the tests I've ever tried.

FMJ have always been the most silent of the ones I've tried though.

Bighurt I would have to measure mine as I may have cut them to 30 1/2" just do not remember as it has been a while since I looked at them. Believe I have 3 doz black shafts and 3 doz camo shafts as I recall.
