I have a ladderstand but the foot platform is a little small Has anyone enlarged theirs by adding plywood or deck bords? Any pics would be appreciated. Thanks

I have not, but aren't you still limited in size by the frame which the seat is supported by? Also, I would worry about snow and ice being very noisy on a wood surface.

Also it would be slick when wet

Personally, I'd A) weld a larger grated platform on, or B) buy another stand with a platform better suited to you.
Wood would not be my choice of material to use.
Good luck.
And be safe. :-)

I added footrests to a couple with small platforms just so I could stretch out a little more. I just made a C shaped frame out of square tubing that swivels out of your way when climbing in. When you're seated, just flip it over and stretch your legs. I shoot seated, so they're just stout enough to rest your feet on, not made to stand on.
I quit buying those and bought some Big Game ladders with large platforms, and I like them much better. Seats are better too.

Honestly, this sounds like an accident at 18' waiting to happen....
Spend $325 and get two large platform ladderstands....

How would you maneuver out and over the platform while you're climbing in? I see only bad things associated with this idea.

To answer a couple questions In front it wouldn extend too far Sides and back more
I agree that plyood may not be the best material. I always wear a harness:)
May get a better stand anyway or use a hang on and get a ladder stick.

My next ladder stand will be of the Big Game style that the seat folds back and then you have a full platform underneath to stand on. I would rather get a new factory built unit than spend almost that amount to rebuild something.

the small platform that doesnt go back to the tree absolutely sucks if you want to stand and shoot. I will never buy another

I took the seat off of an old hang on stand and chained it to the tree under the seat of my ladder stand to use as a platform. It does not extend out in from of the ladder it rests on the ladders foot rest. I put carpet between them to keep them quiet.
Drawing is a little crude but the blue represents an old hang on stand.

Be sure to either paint non-skid or paint w/sand to keep the bottom from dumping you. Wet/frozen plywood is incredably slick.

I have four Big Game Partner Pro ladders. Two of them are up and two still new in the boxes. At 69, I'm just about done climbing. If anybody wants the two new ones, they are for sale at a bargain. PM please.

Drycreek, I have some stands that I would like to add some foot rests to.
Can you send me or post some pictures of the foot rests that you made?

I've done it to a few ladder stands with no problem.
