Shiloh Ranch was recently nominated for one of the best attractions in Oklahoma's Chickasaw Country, and are the only hunting related business to have done so. Please help us prove that bowhunting is a viable form of agritourism in our state by taking the time to vote for us. You can vote once a day through March 1st. Just click on the link and click on Shiloh Ranch Hunting Camp under the best attraction category.

Thanks in advance for helping us out!

Matt and Cheryl,

What's the status of the legislation that you guys mentioned a year or two ago?

Hi Jake, The Bill that was introduced a year ago was voted on by the House and was defeated. We didn't know however, that the author could call for a reconsideration whereby he had 72 hours to gather his cronies together and then go to each Representative whom voted in our favor and then threaten them into changing their vote. Several Representatives told us they now have a "bullseye on their back" because of the way they voted. All they had to do was way enough votes to make it an even count and then they laid the bill over until this spring. So to make a long story short, we have spent the last year raising money to hire a lawyer and a lobbyist to help us fight this battle. We've been speaking at any venue that would allow us, and meeting with the Department of Agriculture and Farm Agencies, trying to educate people. The Pork Council and the Farm Bureau are the money behind this bill, and they believe that all sport hunting of hogs should be eliminated. Their original intent was to shut down commercial hunting but now they have moved to trying to create zones where even private citizens can't hunt feral hogs. They believe the USDA can then eliminate the hogs if they are considered worthless. All of this is being done behind closed doors without a public vote. We are praying for a victory over a government agency that is way out of control!

Oh, and here's an article that shows what the Farm Bureau did for the small farmer in Michigan. We used to believe that as long as a person owned their own land, they could grow enough of their own food to survive. Not if they can legislate us all out of business!
