at what elevation do you hunt turkey?

We have some land at about 4,000 feet elevation and I would love to turkey hunt there but in 30 years I have only seen turkeys up there twice. They will not stay. At what elevation do you hunt turkey

800' to 900'. If I get up to the top of the mountain (Hill) it might be 950'. I remember seeing some turkeys around Kaycee Wyoming on a mule deer hunt and thiking it would be neat to hunt them in this area. Pry 4500' there.

Believe it or not, I saw turkeys at 12500 last year while I was elk hunting. Had to do a double take when I bugled and got a gobble as a reply!

I'd never really thought about elevation until after hunting Wyoming for years...from 1977 to the late 90's...from that Kaycee area mentioned above, to the central Bighorns, to the Bridger-Tetons in the far west-central...west of Big Piney.
Being in Wisconsin, one day I noticed a sign by a local town's airport reading, "Reedsburg municipal airport, elevation 905 feet".
Lol...never realized how low we were. The bluff country near by raises about 400 feet and is some real rugged stuff...about as close to mountain hunting we get.

Around 2,000' in Nebraska and 6k here in Colo. The snow line has been pretty low most of this year in Colo so the turkeys likely remain a little lower elevation than normal.

I imagine latitude would have a lot to do with this.
I hunt them at 3500-4k feet.
I've seen them in Nevada above 7k feet.

Here in NoCo they get up to 10K. We still have a lot of snow at 8K and my neighbor had some walking around on top of 2' drifts last week.
