I just bought a TQ (Terry Quinn) takedown recurve. It is 50 pounds at 28 inches. I would like to draw a lower weight like 45 pounds. Would getting a longer string (currently 56 inches) accomplish this, and how much longer should it be?

Nope, just short draw the bow or get lighter limbs. The bow will not tune well without the right length string! Shawn

deerman406 is correct, the other thing NOT to do, is DO NOT loosen the limb bolts to try and lower the weight. Lighter limbs are the best bet or contact the maker and see if he can lighten them for you. You would have to shorten your draw by 2 inches to get it down to around 45#'s. Could make shooting accuratly more difficult, not knowing where you anchor now. DANNY

Thanks to all for the info. I have found some good information on lightening the limbs.
