You dogs! I am so jealous. Recently spent 3 days in a burn in CA (where you sometimes find them) - nada, zipperoony, bupkus, zilch. Not much in the way of critters either, although I found a bear print near a water hole that was 6 inches wide and 9 long - seemed big to me.

Turks--1 me--0 this year so far!

I've only had 1 chance to go so far this spring. Had a bird on the next ridge over gobbling for 2 hrs straight back at me but he wouldn't come in & from where I was at, I knew he would bust me if I tried to move in on him so I quit & went and worked on food plots the rest of the day!

Found a hat full the 1 time I went, but the wife & a couple of her girlfriends have cleaned up on em this year! They have probably found 20-25lbs of them this year.

So far, I have struck out in both this year. I still have 2 days left for turkeys, but here in Ga the morels are loooong gone! I'm on the very southern edge of their range and they normally show up in early-mid March, but we had a very mild and dry late winter, and I never could find any. I envy you guys farther north that really rake them in every year.

Hopefully I'll manage to find a stupid/lovesick/uneducated tom on one of these last two mornings. I've either killed or called in 5 different gobblers in the last 2 days of the season over the last 4 years, so I'm not giving up yet, but the chances are looking pretty slim right now!

Congrats to those who have connected on both the birds and the fungi!

Charlie are those Morels in the North East? I've been looking and so far haven't found any

My morels are from New York State near the border of Massachusetts and Connecticut.

We actually had to expel some Morel poachers from our property this year. Bernie voters no doubt:)

Pheasantbacks are good if they're young. I've been finding them by the dozens. Ate some, froze some, and dehydrated some.

I've only found a handful of morels so far.

Traper and t-roy win prizes for having shrooming kids. I am seriously jealous all the way around.

From: t-roy

Almost Charlie. I shot one in 1979 in Iowa that weighed 27.25lbs. They opened up turkey season in iowa for the first time in our area in the late 70s. Used to have to put into the draw to try and get a tag. That bird was the second biggest bird registered in the state that year.

I think that they've killed a lot of birds well over 30+ lbs since.
