After many discussions with Buffalo1 I got the bug in me to start making my own arrows, so I bought a saw, an arrow square, the Bohning tower set, and all the required parts/glue. Today my daughter and I embarked on our first arrow making quest. I wouldn't say they are perfect, but not too bad for beginners. The saw, after assembly, worked great. It's an 8000 RPM Weston. And the tower jig, again after assembly, was a really simple operation. Hey, if I can figure it out, anybody can. And Buffalo1 was right, there is a new found pride in shooting an arrow you put together from scratch. After I an arrow for my daughters’ setup, she took over the assembly line and made our first custom arrow for my setup. My arrows are finished in red, hers are blue. Here she is in action, her first arrow to ever put together. Great time bonding with my kiddo, gotta love it.

Thought I could add all the pictures into the original post, but it didn't work. One at a time then... Putting her first wrap on an arrow.

Good job on the arrows! They look great for your first time. And even better job on the father / daughter bonding time. I can't wait to fletch arrows with my little guy.

Good job! I've been putting my own arrows together since I was about 12 years old. I enjoy doing it. When I shot a stickbow I was really getting ready to dip, crest, and start some feather splicing but I never had the time to really do it. One of these days I will

My dad started me out back in the late sixties. Still making them today. A lot of different colors and materials over the years, but I've always used "my" arrows.

How does a pretty young lady like that make an arrow in this day and age.... and not get glitter all over it???
=D
Pretty awesome.
Have a dozen shafts coming in soon... you gave me the idea to have my granddaughter help me. I think she'd get a kick out of it.
I'm using a bitz or three though.... I think by the time we get a couple done the 9 year old attention span will have hit the wall.... maybe if I let her use some hello kitty glitter?

My daughter, although you could call her a tomboy, is all girl. BUT, she hates the stereotypical girlie stuff. Don't you dare ask her is she wants ANYTHING in pink. And she loves to help me do just about anything and she is always up for a challenge, so I thought why not get her involved in this project and we'd learn together. She pretty much took over on the whole assembly line the other day and I just stood by and watched. She takes great pride in getting it done correctly and by the time she got to doing her arrows in blue, she had it down to a science. Very neat and clean on the wrap and on the glue.
