So after reading some great info and watching some videos on food plots I decided to make myself a nice little summer plot. Pretty small 45'x16'. It's fairly close to our cornfield but it was the best place for it. Today I weed- whacked it down to the ground and sprayed it with roundup. Next week I'll turn some dirt and plant it so I was wondering what do you guys recommend I plant? Also is around August 1st about the right time to plant? Thanks!

A bit late for beans, but you could through some out there, You have time for turnips, radish and wheat.

Oats is another option. I use Whitetail Institutes version. Plant the first week of Sept. and hope for a little rain.

I don't know about the oats and peas being wiped out on a day or two. I have planted peas and oats in a 30ft. by 100 plot and they did well and it bought the deer in. Clover or alfalfa may work but you have to get the soil right. Shawn
