I'm in the market to get a hang on tree stand or two for next season. There is a lot to choose from. What's the best hang on stand for $100 or less?

I haven't tried them all. But for $100 or less, I really like Big Game stands. They're heavy. Hard to hang. But big and comfortable.
I hate the little $40 stands. I can't be comfortable in them for long sits, and most of my sits are long

it's all in what you want, where you're going to put it and how much comfort you want. if I'm padlocking it to a tree for long term, I pay extra for comfort. I will sit longer and move less.

I personally find the big game treestands to be the most comfortable but i also haven't tried them all.

Dicks puts on their 40 dollar stands a lot of time after christmas for buy one get one free. I have at least 40 of them and I do not mind them at all. I use my own seat cushion, other then that, they are fine. Shawn

If I were putting stands up and leaving them, I too would go with bigger stands. I would look at some of the Hawk stands, Big Game, and Rivers Edge. The ones with bigger platforms, probably steel because they are cheaper.

Field and Stream has a great Christmas sale going on right now. They have some good deals on some stands.

I have spent over 40 days in treestands so far this season. The millennium with the sling seat are by far the most comfortable but they are about $200 a piece. Another very comfy stand for me is the millennium m-25. I just picked up two more from Dick's for $75 a piece. I am going to give away my field and stream treestands after this season and will have only the millennium (both hang-on and ladder) going forward.
For me, it is way easier to sit longer in a comfortable stand. Less movement and more deer seen.
Good luck

I saw the Ol Man roost for $80 somewhere. Likely a very good value. If interested I will find the link for you.

OK, check that. I can't find that price, sorry. Sportsman's guide has it for $108 for members.

I weight over 250 so I stick with larger more strongly made stands. I have pretty much given up on stand hunting the last 10 years so I'm not sure what is even out there. I used to like the Loc On brand, the LEM was my favorite

Spend a few more bucks and get a good Millenium that is comfortable and will last many years, it well worth it!!!

What Bake said. I've used a bunch. The Big games suck to hang because they are heavy but are a rock in the tree and have nice big platforms with a turned up foot rest. By far my favorite. The dicks stands I also use but they have gotten incredibly cheap in the past couple years but for $29.99 on sale ...................
though I do worry about how long they will last if I leave them out all year.

If you are looking for "a tree stand or two" for under a $100, I'd consider the Millenium U100 (I think this is the name) that weighs 11 pounds and still has a big platform and the comfortable seat with the back. They can be had for under $200, and they use a receiver (either locking chain or ratchet strap versions @ $30/each for just the bracket) that can be left in multiple trees and you can use one stand for multiple locations. The brackets are much easier to hang than an entire stand, and when you get to your tree with the stand, the stand is very easy to hang with just one hand. This is what I have gone to as of last year after years of hanging Rivers Edge/Big Game type "portables" and getting tired of it.
Now I am more comfortable, feel better about leaving my chain brackets in a tree than a "strapped" on steel portable, and can hunt multiple locations without worrying about a stand not being there due to theft.

Agreed Northwoods. I recently went with a Chippewa Wedgloc and that will replace all my hang ons. Maintaining all those hang ons takes time. I've made a dozen of those receivers and leave them in the trees. This way my stand is not out in the elements year round.

This season I've hunted quite a few different friends property's and all of there different stands..as for the millenium s..yes everyone has said how comfortable they are...imo the problem with them is exactly that..the big, wide ,and very comfortable seat...I had deer approaching on several different sets at different states ..3 times I was busted lifting the WIDE,comfortable seat..yea I know what your thinking, the fellas that owed Every one of them admitted it was an issue for them too..I know it doesn't happen every time. But you will sacrifice comfort perhaps for the animal of a lifetime..my1.5 cents worth, something to consider when buying..

Just curious savage; why lift the seat?

Franzen,,bucks coming in fast changing direction up close,,lifted seat to adjust legs to a changed shot lane...twice....the other I simply didn't want to risk anything touching the seat.... which in green co. I screwed up by adjusting my legs and my vertigo cargo pocket zipper touched the seat edge, costing me probably my biggest buck...maybe I'm a little paranoid..but I'm positive..more surface area is easier to pick out..than less. Idk ,about my comfort...

Hard to tell from the website - the M25 vs M50?
Found it - the leveling

Not just the leveling but also the receiver system for mounting to the tree. Much faster and easier when you're 20 feet up.
