His Whitetails
His Whitetails
There was a thread a few days ago asking about my dads whitetails. I was at the house yesterday & snapped a few pics of some of his mounts.

Darrall, Some super nice animals......the moose and some caribou are really outstanding specimens. Jim was a very well rounded bowhunter and gem of a guy from my short exposures to him. I liked how his writing got better and better as he aged. Thanks for the photos.

Yep, thank you! Your dad was an icon and role model for so many of us. Would that we have more like him today instead of some of the vanity celebrities representing our pursuit.

Thank you so much! Your father really got me into bowhunting thru his writings. He lit the spark and it grew into a flame! I waited for the new Bow & Arrow mags and Bowhunter looking for his latest adventure. You don't know how much I looked up to him.

Thanks for sharing. As impressed as I have always been with your Dad, I think your Mom deserves some special recognition as well. No way would my wife agree to half of those! (Not that she would have to worry with my hunting abilities:)

Thanks for sharing. Loved reading your father's articles. Somehow, he just seemed to "connect" with me more than other bowhunting "legends."

Awesome collection! Thanks much for sharing. Like others here, he was quite an influence on me and my bowhunting.
We likely had relatives up the line that walked off the boat at the same time and never bumped into each other ever again. Knowing my relatives, at least not on purpose..... =D

I sat in that living room 20 years ago as Jim scored my first Pope and Young whitetail deer. I was just a kid and speechless looking at all the animals I didn't even know existed.

Darrall, I got to share a couple of camps with your dad. it was fun, to say the least. Did he, by chance, ever tell you about the Missouri Ozark camp with the Lohman group, and about Mr. Ray Sanderson, a .45, a handful of loaded clips and some rude canines chewing on a cow and newborn calf? I'm betting not...we agreed not to talk about it outside of camp, but it's been 23 years ago. It's a classic. :-)

Michael, don't think I've ever heard that one. I'm guessing it didn't end well for the dogs?
