2016!!!! 2016!!!! 2016!!!! <----<< sorry
I love seeing others photos other than "hero shots"... sunsets, camps, family, in the field, from the stand... etc. I'd like to see your favorite photo (in your eyes) from the this year (non-hero). Give a little background about time of year, state and other info you'd like to add, please.
I'll get the ball rolling...
This was on the way to a stand my wife and myself love to hunt during November, here in Oklahoma. I couldn't resist the lighting and a bit of staging.
Talk about a headline fail. 2016 maybe? Lol
Last week while goose hunting with the bow. Sun was perfect and the zoom out to 70 yards was right on. I squeaked, he stopped, I took his pic.
This is not this year but one of my fav hunting pics of all time. First afternoon of wi gun season three yrs ago. I didn't have any two man stands so when my son would tag along he would sit on the foot rest and I'd put my legs around him. He must've be warm and comfy because in this picture he is snoring like a grown man.
This one is this fall. First week of November. We got permission for a new area and on our scouting trip my son found the shed in the pic. The next morning he decided he'd bring it with for good luck. We are halfway up a ridge hunting the valley below. I saw my first legit booner with him this morning.
listening to the bulls bugle down in this foggy canyon this sept in Wyoming.
How can I do that when it's still 2016?
Definitely my favorite for the year!
I would have to say my wife and I in Yellowstone in front of one of the many beautiful waterfalls. July of this year. This was our second trip, but I think I was more impressed with Rocky Mountain National Park, maybe because I had never been there, but mostly because we saw so many more animals.
Please read above Kelly... that's already been established. Maybe post a photo from 2016? At least we know it won't be a kill photo. :)

Paul, best photo of a fox ever, wow! Here's the Az strip where we took two archey bucks, 220" and 217". Most beautiful country and the best hunt I have ever had the privilege to go on.
adopted this Brittany over a year ago and have worked through a lot of issues from her previous owners, including being gun shy. here she is pointing chukar with antler sheds in the foreground.
Nothing better than the sunrise from the tree.
Great thread Rick!! I call this one creeping in the shadows! Best of luck in 2017! Hunt

This past summer my wife decided she wanted a new truck instead of an suv. Said she could pull her horse and haul her own buck when she finally got one. Fast forward to October and she harvested her first buck! And yes, it went in her truck, not mine.
New friends I met and bonded with at 10400' in WY. Saw 16 rams, we were fortunate to take the two largest.

Took this during early November. One of my favorites
This is a photo I took while bowhunting antelope in WY this past Sept.
It is a stagnant well- it captured our energy economy under the Obama administration.
While on a trip to Texas Hill Country, I had the opportunity to visit an Ansel Adams photo exhibit in San Antonio.
This is one of the cameras that Ansel used to capture some of his unbelievable outdoor photos. It's crudeness amazed me - compared to what we have today. He was truly the master of outdoor photography and film developing.
So far it's this one but I hope after New Year's to have something better ;)
The river that I grew up on. Middle Loup in central NE, took a solo fishing trip down it this past summer. I miss that place.
Or this moose in a meadow from our hunt in AK. One of 38 bulls we saw (some repeats, but not many).

Hunt Man.
Is that roger the human pack horse lurking behind you with an empty pack waiting to haul something? He is one hell of a good man to have with you.
Haha Brian ! This time I was the pack horse for this trip! And Roger made me Work for it! I owed him! Great photos guys! Hunt
This was actually taken during the 2015/16 season but it was technically this year. One of the most beautiful sunsets I've ever seen as I walked out of a stand after shooting the biggest doe I'd ever seen...I'm going to try to paint it
I snapped this one of my two buddies bugling elk this September.

This is also one of my favs from the year.. one of many pics from an awesome hunt with Ryan! Yaya I know it's a hero pic... here I'll add one more :-)
Ryan trying a natural setup after his first bird here in Cali.. these birds came into 20 yards and Ryan didn't take a shot.. when asked why he didn't shoot after the birds left, he said he wasn't exactly sure of the birds distance, so he passed.. I know more grown men who don't have that control and good decision making.. I was impressed!
Really good stuff! Great bond bowsite has. I love the people, my brothers and sisters that contribute. Some don't understand what we do, but it's nice to have a place to come to where we all understand the main prinicipal. That is we are bowhunters.
Yukon 2016. Waking up at a place called Grizzly Flat's in a small tent. Guide say's "Take a look. That's where we're gonna hunt sheep .'' The next afternoon I shot a 10yr old Dull Ram.

She is the one who cultivated my love of the out doors . No matter what I caught or killed she would come and talk with me while I cleaned and then would cook it for me as I was growing up . I will forever be grateful . My wife tells me I am a mommas boy and I stick my chest out with pride and say yes I am .

In December I guided this Marine, medically discharged, first hunt, first deer, took two days to get him out of his shell, then, BOOM! Hear from him several times a week now. He's wanting to bring his kids over fishing. Not the first time that's happened.
Favorite pic while hunting.
Think a few hundred of you guys participated in the Arrows for Addison project. The bouquet of arrows is soooooooooo cherished by her family now that she's passed. Literally takes my breath away when I realize how that one little girl, changed so many lives for the better.
OK, I'll stop sending photos before I get the file that has the shots of our new, and first, grandchild. :-)

My little man with my buck.
This is my friend Ron in the pix. We got to this old cabin on the last night that we were packing out. It was about half way. We got there about an half hour after dark. It was a good thing, as the sky opened up just about as we got there. That was the only time we got hard rain the 2 weeks we were there. Ed

I can't pick just one. After being out of the waterfowl game for about 10 years, this hunt with some cousins of mine was a LOT of fun!!

On the way down off the mountain after I took my ram in WY, we had a small area along the creek that wasn't lousy with HUGE boulders. We took a break there and I snapped these two photos.
It wasn't until after I was home and started looking at them on my computer that I noticed the sheep tracks in the sand on this first photo.
