Have you arrowed a Booner?

Let's see the shortlist.... post up the B&C net animals you've been lucky enough to arrow.
B&C or P&Y 171 but it's B&C doesn't count.
Not yet. 2016 Sitka blacktail missed by 3/4 inch.
Velvet Coues 104 net P&Y, I won't remove the velvet for B&C
Not yet. Just 3/16" short on a black bear.
Short answer is no. Longer answer is awards or all time!? There is a difference and I may be very close with a 2017 Coues buck.....for awards, which is 100" vs 110" for all time. He green scores over 100". Also had a couple Mt goats miss by awards by ¾" and 1", plus an elk miss awards by 2-3/8 ". I also missed a pronghorn and bighorn in my younger days that were B&C caliber.
Caz, as we noted in some PMs it is a difficult mark to arrow a B&C critter. Congrats on yours!
Mule deer (typical)-all time
Not yet...But I did see my First booner WT...In 16. ..Damn how it changes you..The way you hunt, how serious you take every moment...And y'all know just what I mean...You just can't stop running that damn seniro through you head..... Again and again.....And that giant has me obsessed.....
Kurt,
We're talking all time, not "participation awards"
That Coues of yours that was busted was jimmy big time.
I have one, boring WT, one possible, we'll see in a few days.
You guys too shy to slap a few photos up?
I took a 173 6/8 net whitetail with my bow. 186 5/8 was gross. Main beams are 31 5/8 and 30 7/8.
black bear brown bear couse deer
This buck grossed 177" & netted 171".
This buck green scored over 188" and netted over 174". I killed this buck on January 5th so there will be a little shrinkage.
2 white tails, all time. A few others that make recording period. If you hunt a lot, you eventually get lucky. My problem is passing up the ones that are about half way in between P&Y and B&C. I just can't do it.
A couple other whitetails that gross in the 170s but don't net it.
Yes, but I awoke in a sweat when I yelled... "I smoked him!" Never could get back to sleep to recover him.
My best wt buck is only about 50 inches short. I did see a definite booner this fall for the first time. He was in and out of my life within ten seconds.
Lived in Iowa all my 39 years. Only booner I've ever even seen was out of state. Killed a gross 165 though. And if you round up that's 170. Lol
The P&Y minimum for Typical Whitetail is 125 and All time B&C is 170.
The leap from P&Y to B&C's minimum is huge and truly a fine accomplishment with archery equipment! Congrats to you guys who have done it.
I know some guys with entries:)
39 years of hunting whitetails, and i haven't shot one. Think i've only saw three, in that time, that would've made it.
I killed this bear last Spring and recently had him officially scored. 21 10/16".
QL Caribou. Award. Just missed all time. But who is keeping score anyways;)
Nope, there ain't no Booners in Ohio...8^)
Not really into the record book thing although use the B&C scoring system when talking big whitetail bucks with others to get an idea of size... BUT, if ever fortuneate to kill one that'd net over 170" typical or 195" nontypical, would enter it becasuse believe an animal of that caiber deserves the reconition...
One comes close though, a smooth clean 5x5 nets in the high 160s, but he won't quite reach the mystical 170" mark so I never had him officially scored... Years ago, officially entered one in our state org and P&Y, but won't likely do that again unless it qualifies for B&C, but at my age now won't likely ever happen...
Congrats to those who have and best of luck to those who know of one's where abouts...8^)
Rob, That picture doesn't do that bear justice!!
Mt. Caribou makes awards, but not all time.
Have been awfully close with a number of mule deer over the years, but just haven't closed the deal on a booner mulie, yet.
That is an awesome bull and photo Treeline!
173 net. Shot him this October. I posted the story in the whitetail tread a few weeks ago.
QL Caribou, Bison, Shiras Moose, CCBG Caribou, but all critters and hunts are great as score does not define how good it was.
Four, two Sitka's and two Coues.
In 16 years of whitetail hunting, mostly PA, I don't think I've ever seen one better than 140ish. I've seen a few PA elk that easily make it and one elk in Idaho that was pushing it.
Forgot about a Muskox too.
What was not mentioned is Rock's four Booners were taken with a recurve bow. I bring that up to reinforce that "traditional" equipment is an effective weapon for big game hunting, as well as Ron's accomplishments. I notice there are several other trad shooters posting, as well.
One whitetail 184" gross typical and nets 173-5/8ths and another whitetail that grosses close to 170"s but as a NT and nets in the 150's. Scooby
This Colombia blacktail makes it with the velvet on by 3/8! Will not have it stripped !
Bowonly....don't you have a B&C bighorn and elk, with your recurve? Kurt
mt Goat 52 4/8 Lyle Willmarth Co

One whitetail that will gross but not net
Dang tacklebox, that's a hog whitetail... Curious, what score?
What is the minimum to enter a wife? A composite of IQ, what she can bench press, how many seconds under 8 min in a mile. Include a measurement or two and total it up. Funny I hope
I'm impressed by the number of coues deer on this thread!! Tough animal to kill with a bow
Glunker, mine was honor student valadictorian, also mensa club, loves the Harley as much as hunting, pound for pound outhe drink anyone I know and can cook like no other!!! Aka Booner
Only scorers I know who would agree are fellow bowsiters, Redman, SerbianShark, Beartrack, Mulepower, In Bowman. Medicemann, SteveC123, JayG, Nontypicial, WTNut, Bigpizzaman
Kelly never misses an opportunity to jump in on a thread he has no business in by mentioning his wife. He also never misses a chance to name drop in hopes of stroking his shrinking ego. It's great!
Kelly, if you don't stop pointing out that you married up, your wife might figure it out!
If they can't pack it effects the net.......
Sorry Nick Much (Oompa Loompa) I forgot how keyboard tough you were? Oh let me guess to much of the brown bottle again?
Yes wish I had what you got so I could pound my chest on every website there is!
Yes proud of my wife, Oompa Loompa I hope you are to as I hope other men are the same. Actually I was just trying to be humorous I can see it upset the little guy again and I'm sorry about that
No I don't have a shrinking ego trust me I'm in my prime.
Nick Let me know if you want to hunt with me this year? As I said I will even pick you up at the airport.
Now for Ego or is it little man syndrome to put all this up on every page on every forum out there.
At least your ego has not dwindled one bit. I googled (Nick Muche world's greatest bowhunter) wow 34 pages of your success on over 15 different websites!!!
TBM cannot even claim that kind of ego trip even with the ham blaster!!!

ohiohunter - Good bucks, impressive, congrats...
One nontypical whitetail that makes it gross, not net.
James Ohio,are those bowkills?
Great!!! Congrats on some long tined beasts
Awesome whitetails, OhioHunter! Congratulations!
Have never even seen a whitetail that big! Awesome deer for sure!
Yep, every night... then I wake up and go pee:)
I'm about the gross myself, but it just goes to show how impressive (and difficult to find) a legit net booner is. Some great animals on here.
Yep, a legitimate net booner is sooo very hard to do! Generally equates to a 7 foot human. Congrats to all who achieve it or strive to:)
There's generally not much doubt when you see one on the hoof. The only time I've ever had WT Booner in bow range I had a Hawkins black powder rifle in my hands-and the firing cap just went "pop". Still haunts me. Congrats to all
Just remember deerhunter72, it could be worse. It could have been a charging grizzly.
Gorgeous Chet, most would be elated to harvest a big horn let alone a booner BH.
My first B&C animal.

My desert sheep should make B&C once it is scored and entered.
I've been very fortunate to take four. Three pronghorns, and my desert sheep should make it when I get him scored in a couple weeks, and a few near misses of other species.
No Boone and Crockett, but I just finished a Betty Crocker.
Stick, lets hear the DBH story. Beautiful animal.

Thanks ohio. Here's a link to the story I posted previously.
Marvin
Marvin:
I always love seeing those pronghorns......NICE
Stick isn't that 2nd one the WR or is that someone else on here? I know one of you guys shot the WR.
I love pronghorn hunting!
Not until this year. First Gila bull. DIY, wilderness.
Marvin:
I always love seeing those pronghorns......NICE
Awesome pronghorns and desert sheep! Congratulations, Stick!
Very nice bull there NM. A B&C elk is a very tough one to get, much tougher and rarer than a B&C whitetail for sure.
An American elk that makes it as both a typical and non typical A Columbian Blacktail and a central Barren Ground Caribou
Not many elk that go both ways will make it to B&C status....Mike, you are a magnet!
Kelly you must be a hell of a tracker. I mean its obvious to anyone paying attention that you only got about 1.5 inches of penetration on that arrow...
killed this beast ..scored 218 1/8
170 3/8 white tail shot here in Wyoming
Heck of a ram, BR! Congratulations.
Yes Sage Buffalo. That one is the WR.
What a stud - did you happen upon him or did you find and wait until opening day? I can't remember the story. Pretty sure I read it in a magazine. Pronghorns are my favorite.
BTW A while ago I did some calculations on B&C WT deer - less than 10 a year are killed and scored in every state. It doesn't happen often so if you have smile cause you are lucky!!!!!!
Net booner for sure
Net booner for sure
This one nets a clean 190 so yeah I've bagged one
Sage, I watched and photographed him for a couple months before the season, along with another buck that I still think was the bigger of the two. I didn't sleep very well the night before the hunt, knowing there would be 110 hunters in a very small hunt area the next morning.
Bill in Mi.......I think you forgot to carry a "1", or maybe a "2"!
I saw one that would have scored higher than that one, in the Walmart parking lot, but she got down wind of me........thankfully
After looking at picks and post I am incredibly humbled to be able to post on this page. This is why Bowsite is the best.

Awesome bull Danny !!!!! The ram aint to bad either;)
Bill can I get her number bro???
Dang it BigDan, you know your not suppose to sit on the animal!
We are to.respect the Animal whom''s life we take.
You know, killing an animal is OK but sitting on it is not OK??????
I killed the bull long before I got my Photo Etiquette was fine tuned. and its to late to take a new photo. The sheep was after my poor photo taking was pointed out
Green scored this guy just over 180.
BigDan? Yes I know, just poking at those who have issues when someone sits on an animal that they kill,
Aka OK to kill but not OK to sit on it??? I never understood that liberal mentality.

Nice whitetails bowhawk75, luv the old Bear recurves, CONGRATS...
it's funny cause that pic of BigDan sitting on that bull is one of my fav's. I take a lot of time in setting up pics, but I think the reason I like that particular pic so much is because it so obviously shows a guy who just loves to hunt elk and just killed a big one. Not a guy posing for pics he is hoping to send to 35 publications before the morning is through, just a legit hunter. It's why we love the "old photos" from "back in the day" so much. You see the pureness of the hunt, and that's what I see in that photo along with a just plain giant elk.
Is Kelly saying that "was" a booner, or "still is" a booner? If "still is", then I've had close to 100 booners before I got married (now just 1).
Gross booner wt. 176ish & my ram
Surprising, keep seeing so called "gross" Booners, but sorry there ain't no just thing... If it don't "net" it ain't a Booner, and why a B&C animal is so exceptional and distinguished...
Attached is Buddy's 168-6/8" official score, which is an inch and quarter off B&C qualifier... The left G4 is a wash, and comes that close as a 4x4... Notice the long sticker coming off the right G2... Break a couple inches off, it'd qualify, but it still ain't no Booner....
Hey ohiohunter, this buck had the longest G2s I've ever seen... Killed in 2003, I think they were both over 17" if I remember correctly...
I forgot I also have a Whitetail that just missed B and C by only 35 inches
Impressive, those kickers will kick you in the teeth. Mine had 5 totaling over 9". I'm kinda shocked that guys deer didn't score higher, esp when I consider my deer's g4's. One was decent, but the other was a pathetic flattened out crab claw looking thing 3" tops.
What state?
I'm with you Zbone, nets aren't just for fishing.
ohiohunter - Ohio, 2003 shotgun killed during statewide firearm season... That long sticker was around 6 - 7" (or over 8, but don't remember) and I think there was another (small) one photo doesn't show, so if clean, would've scored 175+ as an eight point, and yeah, that's impressive if ya think about it...
BTW, notice there ain't no long arms in that photo...8^)
I have always wondered, what is the average number of whitetails per year entered that are killed with a bow?
kellyharris,
Don't be too critical of Bigdan's photo, I'm sure you spend your fair share of time on top of yours too... LOL!
IF that kicker is 8" a lot of us here have a new career in hollywood!
Have you arrowed a Booner?
I always get a laugh from the "nets are for fishing guys"
ohiohunter - I don't know, look at those guys hands and fingers...8^)))
Seen my Bud recently, and he bowkilled a nice buck this season, and has actually killed a couple dandys since with his bow, but none of that caliber... As said, I don't remember the stickers length but will ask next time I see him...
At the time he killed that buck I didn't put a tape on it but thought it'd make B&C, and he didn't know much about or wasn't into records keeping until after he had it officially measured and when it told me the score, I JOKINGLY told him he shoulda took a hammer and chipped a couple inches off the sticker...8^) He just laughed...8^)))

Kellyharris-impressive rack indeed! What did she measure?
Well, my BH sheep made it. 181 net.
Great Ram Chad! Congrats!
Nice Sitka looks like not far from camp
Woodland Caribou Oct 2012.
Official B&c 388 5/8 net. 402 3/8 gross. SCI scored him at 408 3/8. Great and exciting classic Gila hunt but I was just as excited with my last minute 290 the year before in Az after terrible Wallow fire and drought
Got 3 black bears over 20"s and 1 over 21"s, I don't enter anything but isn't 21"s minimum?
20 is B&C awards book (3 year book) and 21 is B&C All-time book.
Maybe some day you'll enter em all:)
