Whitetail Deer

Has anyone been out shedhunting this year yet? I know its early for most of you but I've been putting some miles down and we've got 13 so far, 10 fresh ones. We have pressured deer with low nutrition so they tend to shed a bit earlier here in the south suburbs of Chicago.
That's pretty cool .....All I ever find is 2yr old, singles..3 points max..
Awesome, Nice finds!...I do a lot of my shed hunting around the suburbs...They can be very productive!
Be sure you collect sheds legally, especially elk sheds out west. As in the Wyoming news, microchips and transmitters have been placed in planted sheds to catch trespassers and those illegally collecting antlers. In fact, microchips are now common even in live game and in private land shed antlers. Just something to think about.
Thanks, I'll keep that in mind next time I'm out illegally picking sheds.
Birthday shed! I just compared this shed to the buck I killed this year. 99.9% sure it's the same deer. I must have walked right by it last Spring. Dang squirrels:-(
I dug through my shed pile and found the match to him. I'm 100% sure these sheds are from the buck I killed this year.
Holy smokes T-roy! Where did you find the crabby front sheds?? Im not so sure thats the same deer you harvested. My friend killed a perfect 12pt with nearly identical claws. I'll try to post a pic.... It was shot in Indiana.
James......Wow! It does look extremely similar. Iowa deer. I posted a thread on killing this buck. (Late season...Down to the wire) if you're interested.
I'm certain its the same buck from the unusual ridge on the inside of the main beams, the left brow has a matching blade, the non-typical point on the inside of the right main beams match (although not as pronounced this year) The bases to both sides match up as well. I didn't make the connection right away either, due to the crab claws, but when I got home, I sized them up and everything ties in together. He put on quite a few inches from last year to this year as well.
That is a nice one Jakob!
Find the match to that bad boy, I'd like to see it!
Some are still fully crowned but some are just now starting to shed in my area, just seen two carrying just one size since February 9th... Peak shedding timing seems to be from about now until the Ides of March around here, so don't really start searching hard until around mid March...
This buck was carrying both sides on February 10, so he's shed one side just within the past 2 days...
Notice 2 sided buck behind...
Found this little whitetail shed yesterday. First of the year for me in Saskatchewan. Saw 23 mule deer bucks in one field yesterday that were all still packing both sides.

I found this one not knowing she had the other pegged 5 yards away

And this is while they were still being worn.
Been out searching a few times past couple weeks, but peak shedding has just began around here, although most or many are still packing, peak will be the next couple weeks....
Saw way more bucks still carrying then shed.
My brother found this one in Pa yesterday.
Had one of my best outtings on sunday with the family; 8 total with a few big ones!
Ben Farmer - That's a cool looking shed, unique... Gonna be a dandy next season....
Rough score of 147"

Forky shed left side today between 02:16 AM and 7:27 PM...
A nice side by side set I picked up after glassing it at 450 yards from the truck.
My first shed of 2017. Have him on trail can last week
It always surprises me that people will walk for miles to pick up sheds of a buck that they wont shoot
It always surprises me that people start threads and instruct others to "score this rack" and are told to add inches for missing points. ;)
@EmbryOK...
I bet you've 'added inches' for missing length too :)
Dont you "@" me!
Okay.. I might have embellished somewhere along the way, but never downstairs, you'll always be found out. ;)
Date is right, time of day wrong.

Thought I was world's worst shed hunter, found zero at home so far. Threw out a couple trail cams and got some pics during our first blizzard of the year couple days ago, 14 inches of snow and howling wind. 6 different bucks still packin' so there is hope for me yet. Dang snow put the kibosh on stump shooting for awhile tho.
Same here Rob, some bucks still packing, BUT, it's like a daily thing now...8^)
Beware the Ides of March...8^)
Here's the 4x4 early this AM, dates and times are correct...
Talked before about bucks carrying there racks in April being not uncommon, pulled this photo from my backyard trail-cam… Date and time correct…
Burned some CRP off a couple weeks ago and found this guy :-(
I think he died in the fall-winter of 2015.
A buddy found these on his farm north of me last weekend.
