looking at going to a heavier head. Currently setup is a decree 60@29". 340 spine arrows weight in at 406gr with a 125gr head. Liking the longer coc profile of the 175 1 1/8". Would this spine ok? I'm not tech savvy so looking for whatever help I can get.

If your arrow is 29"s maybe even 30"s your spine will be fine with the 175 grain head. Scooby

Don't know where Drahthaar is at the moment to be able to respond to thread- but I can tell you the VPA 3-blade 175 is a killing machine.

Buffalo1 more so than the 125? Is it due to longer cutting surface?

I've been thinking of trying this head too. I like the contour and larger cutting diameter. I figure I might as well cut more since I have no problem passing through. That head would put my arrow at 470 grains and I'm shooting 29 inch arrows, but only a 52 lb bow so I think it'd be a bit much and hurt my tradjectory. I also worry about tuning.

I also wanted to try them for my recurve. I figured that'd be a great arrow for it.

I use the 125 gr personally. Drahthaar is the one who uses the 175 gr. His results in Africa has been incredible.

I have used the 175 grain head for at least 6 years, both from my recurves and compound. Super easy to sharpen as well, buy a 3 sided jewel stick and you can make them scary sharp. I had killed 6 deer with the same head and was planning on more til I head shot a doe with it by accident. Scooby

You will need to make some tuning adjustments to your bow but will probably be able to get those arrows to work. The heavier point weight will soften the spine on those arrows that you currently have set up for 125 grain points.

I shoot the VPA 150s in both 2 and 3 blade in my compound but on Axis 300s as underspined in a compound is a bad idea, IMO. Should mention i use the long insert as i like the added strength. Shoot em in my recurve too
