I have 2 points and I am gonna buy another so next year I should draw the unit I want. It not one that most want to draw and I see with 2 points I would be assured a tag. Scooby

No. You can either buy a point, or apply for a tag, not both.

I should have a tag this year. I'm waiting till the end of the app period to apply, as I do with everything, just in case I draw some random sheep tag or something.

BULELK1, you would be throwing money away. You can go hunt anywhere with your 4 points. Your points don't disappear if you don't apply.

Is Iowa really worth it? I mean is really worth the $200-250 to have enough points to draw a good unit?

Iowa is worth it, Kansas is worth it, Illinois, hell every place I have ever hunted is worth it. You get out of it what you put into with hard work and scouting. I would say if you have only a week or so too hunt then it may not be worth it. It usually takes time to get on to deer and if you have anything less then 2 weeks it may not be worth it, to some anyway! Shawn
