Just to know what we are shooting for on this thread:

Only counting different bears, not mulitple photos of same animal. We have been counting bears taken with any weapon. Black, brown, grizzly, or polar.....they all count.

WOW!!!! Congrats Cory. We had some early season luck already this spring with a nice family from Mexico who wanted to get get there 11 and 14 year old son a black bear. Both took an awesome bear, one spot and stalk and one with hounds.

Back from several days of looking over bears in northern BC. We were a bit early, with not much green yet. No baiting here so just put the miles on and walk out good corridors. We hunt a large river corridor which also has a wide power transmission line. The bears head down in the spring for the earliest green up. We had well over two hundred bear sightings, plus eleven different grizzlies. Just a ton of small, and average bears. Only a couple of really big bears. Quite a few better than average, but we try to maintain a 19" minimum. We were a week or so too early for the big boars to be seriously lured out in the daylight by cute sows. I have to add a few pics from my phone cause that's all I have right now.

Nick can't be the only one having fun. AK Black Bear taken Saturday evening. Perfect pass through. Thank you so much to "girl guide" Zac Kendl for taking me and all your help. This was by far one of the most exciting hunts I've been on in a while!
The first bait hadn't been hit yet so we were trying not to get our hopes up. We decided to walk in anyway and check the second bait without majority of our gear. As soon as we walked in, it was clear the bait had been hit. Cubs had climbed up the tree and tore apart the tree stand cushions. Foam was everywhere! We took out the camera chip and had a look see. There was a sow and her 2 cubs from last year that we had just bumped off the bait and what looked to be a decent boar over the past couple days. We walked back to the truck, suited up and headed back out.
We were seated in the stand around 5pm. 6:30pm the boar came in. He didn't give me a clear shot though. After several minutes of him sitting around searching himself, he eventually ended up laying on the ground facing away from us, eating away on the bait. In the mean time while waiting, dark rain clouds had covered the sun. I became so cold I couldn't stop my legs from shaking. I was so nervous it wouldn't stop and that I wouldn't be able to make a decent shot on this bear, if he let me. All of a sudden we heard huffs. The boar's ears perked up and he took off behind us. Another bear was coming into the bait. She became visible with her cubs but didn't come all the way into the bait. They didn't stay long at all. A few minutes later I saw the boar behind me to my right but he ended up turning away from us and leaving. Inside I became I bit discouraged, thinking he might not come back and regretting not taking a shot when he first came in.
About 30 minutes later the sun finally came back out and my shakes stopped. 7:24pm rolls around and thankfully the boar ended up circling around and came back into the bait. He was behind a smaller tree so I thought it was the perfect opportunity to draw. Instead, he stood up and used the tree to scratch his back. I let down. Wasn't but another minute before he walked into the bait broadside and gave me a shot. I drew back and made a perfect pass through. He went about 32 yards from the stand before dying. I have harvested bears before but this was the first death moan I've actually heard. Within another hour, he was field dressed and we were packing out the meat and hide.

Last night near Dauphin. Good size one. We had to weigh him in pieces...my digital scale only went to 400lbs. Total was somewhere over that. The head/hide was 95lbs. He was 7' x 7'. Hide on was 23". Got great vid of the shot. To avoid a new post, here ya go.

She's 16. She took a hog at seven with my .243 and the following year she shot her first deer. Two years ago she took up bow hunting and got herself a whitetail doe with it. She's been laying down the deer and hogs ever since.
She had some issues with her bow while in the stand on this bear hunt and long story short, it really shook her confidence so she opted for rifle.

I took this boar while hunting with Gunson Guides and Outfitting (Formerly KL Outfitters, Dorintosh SK). We hunted the week of May 28-June 4, I took the bear on Day 4 (Thursday). Not sure about what the bear will 'square', but he weighed 286#, measured 5'10 nose to base of tail, with a foot just over 5.5 inches across the pads (outside to outside). Shot was 8 yards, recovery was less than 30.

We had a successful final week on my baits this past week. Had a few out of staters up for their first bear hunt for my buddies bachelor party. I punched my final two tags, and got two other great friends their first bears. 7 boars this season off my two baits (4 first time bear hunters, and I punched my 3 tags), the Brown Bears eluded me yet again. Nick and I doubled on my chocolate bear and his Brown Bear on Friday night. Both should break P&Y, a first for both of us when it comes to bears. Third time is a charm next spring on the Brownies, have a feeling they won't be able to time their arrivals during my work schedule.
