Here's an article from today's paper that a few of you might be interested in: ;-)

"The Wyoming Game and Fish Commission set the 2017 hunting seasons for big game, bison, birds and small game this week. In a news release, the Game and Fish Department said the season settings were created with an eye to the harsh winter conditions in western Wyoming, but also include added licenses where populations are increasing. The final seasons include an overall, statewide increase in antelope (up 4,290), mule deer (up 25), white-tailed deer (up 1,005), elk (up 725), and bighorn sheep (up eight) licenses. Statewide, there was a reduction in moose (down 75) and bison (down 175) licenses. The number of mountain goat licenses available stayed the same. Specifically, there were reduced deer and antelope licenses issued around Jackson, Pinedale, and Green River due to winter conditions."

There will also be a major change in the way leftover licenses are issued: "The commission also approved a change to issue big game hunting licenses that are leftover after the draw, through another draw. This would be a change from having those issued on a first-come, first-served basis."

The Wyo G&F homepage says their website will be updated with this information May1.

Wyoming continues to do a good job with what nature and the budget gives them to work with. To bad they could get a 1% or something from there energy resources coal oil gas or something.

Thanks, Rob! That sucks for the muleys in G and H. Hope to get a leftover RP cow/calf tag for that region this year. Love that country!

Extended the season, cut 200 nr tags, and went to 3 point or better in G. The leftover draw period will be open for only 5 days.

Don't really see why they dropped the bison tags so much. Seems like it would of stayed the same or a slight increase.

It's going to be interesting to see the odds for the left overs. I bet they'll be really bad!

ohio, the change to the way leftover licenses are distributed is new, so the 2017 NR applications wouldn't have had an option for a leftover. I would assume the leftover draw would be open to anyone. It's also possible the change won't go into effect until 2018. Guess we'll find out when they release the specifics on the 1st.

Leftover draw is open to all. The app period will open immediately after the standard draw results are posted and run for 5 days. No app fee will be required and no res/nr quota splits. Res and nr can apply as a party.
