I got one in my area too. He’s a 5 pt. His body definitely doesn’t match his rack.

Big bodies and small racks sounds just like the UP. Deer, etc... :-)

Looks awfully fat for mid December too. Must have been a bystander during the rut.

Big bodied deer up here on the border survive the brutal cold with less heat loss. Minus 5 this morning with a strong wind. My buck this year was a 2 year old deer that weighed 183 pounds dressed. He had a small 7 point rack. A guy up here shot a 269 pounder with a tiny 8 point rack. I try to shoot a big bodied deer as I want to fill my freezer with my tag.

I prefer them skinny with big racks.
Wait, are we still talking about deer?

Dang, Fuzz - that one looks photoshopped!
Myself, I'm not so much about the inches of bone as the pounds of meat, so Pat's pic looks like a grade-A shooter to me! I'm perfectly happy to keep shooting (and eating!) those "inferior" bucks until a "quality" one wanders by....

Big body helps win fights in the rut. Big antlers get your ass shot. Maybe we've been selecting genetics for just what's in the photos?

Big antlers also help you win fights. When big sword meets little sword, big sword pokes you in the eye and shoulder.

6 point I've got pics of for 4 years. He was a 6 pt then and hefty too. He must weigh 250# easy. Big boned.

Here is mine. He was a promising 2 YO till an Ohio "slug Fu@%" put one thru the top of his back. You can sorta still see the crease behind his shoulders. Anyway, his rack turned into a little twisted mess. This year he is ten. I call him Shrek.

Had this one hitting my apple tree with a nice 7 point. His body was much larger than the 7 point.

I had this big bodied buck I named "Brutus" visiting my property for a few years and I never got a daytime photo of him and only saw him once at midday tending a doe in heat.

That deer is a SLOB. -Look at getting him made into bacon! Find him and run him down on foot. :)
