All I can say is hunting mule deer is not easy. I was fortunate to spot this mule deer on the first day of archery season and stalk with 65 yards....and make a good shot. My hunting partner hunted five more days and managed to get a few shots off but never connected. This buck was the 4th largest we saw.

There are a couple of places that will age you deer based on the rings in the front teeth. Much more accurate than the visual estimation.

As a life long resident of NM congratulations . I know the grey ghost with archery tackle is a great accomplishment. Just waiting for the "eastern bowsite yardage Brigade" to chime in on this hahaha great shot. Great work!

The teeth are far too worn to visually age. It also is very dependent on the area you hunt.(is the area hard on teeth?) We took an old NM buck in and it came out 8.5. It wasn't worn as much as yours. Great trophy.
