Was able to sneak out to a relatively local tail water yesterday, and managed to hook and land the biggest rainbow of my life. She ate a #14 red copper John, and was fought and landed on a 5 weight rod and 5X fluorocarbon tippet. Didn’t weigh or measure her at the moment of truth, but estimate she was around 28” and 9 pounds. Still in awe! Poudre Canyon

I think I know where you were. Thanks for not posting pics with the backdrop! Spot burn is all too common these days with social media.

Nice fish too!

So how big of a hole do you have to cut in the ice in order to flyfish in the winter? :)

I'll take that on a flyrod over a 150" WT any day. That's a great fish. I've landed one like that ONCE and missed a few others. Not easy to do!

Problem with weight is different type of rainbows have different girths. I think you are right on weight - what a pig!!!!
