I was lucky enough to hunt the Arabian Oryx last week and what a hunt I had, and on day three I finally laid eyes on a bull, had one great stalk on hands and knees and I ended up getting a shot off at 28 yards, what a beautiful animal and one I will never forget,

Congrats! Is this the same as a scimitar horned oryx?

No different species

The horns were straighter than I've seen on scimitar but the coloration looked somewhat similar. Any type of oryx spot and stalk is a well-earned trophy!

Find out this week doorknob

It went extinct in the wild in the early 70's, and the few remaining specimens were bred in my home town at the Phoenix Zoo. The offspring were later sent to various other zoos to perpetuate the species, including the San Diego Wild Animal Park, and ultimately reintroduced back to its homeland. This is the first time the IUCN has reclassified a species as vulnerable after it had been listed as extinct in the wild.

Congrats.

They are impressive animals. I was fortunate to see some of those that were reintroduced in Israel in the Negev desert.

Very cool.
