After chasing bulls in steep terrain for 8 days I decided to take it easy, sleep in and hunt behind camp. I'd videod some decent bulls there the morning before. After chasing one bull for 20 minutes, I heard a deep bugle coming up the mountain nearby. I sidehilled it to get ahead of him. He clammed up when he got within 100 yards, and did not move. A cow call did not work. After waiting 5 minutes I thought I'd give a high squeel bugle. He came right in and stopped broadside. 2 pines allowed me to draw. I quickly evaluated part of his rack and saw 2 nice whale tails plus a sticker, so I made the easy shot. Walked only 40 yards and bedded within sight, wedged against the fallen pine, right next to one of his rubs. He's pretty solid at 345" P&Y. Not a monster Nevada is famous for, but still above average. I did pass on a 370" 8x8 and a 380" 6x6 on my 2nd day, due to poor shooting angles. Great hunt.
