I have been hunting hard, passing up over 40 deer with the gun and bow, waiting for a good buck. This evening I was hunting in East Haddam with the bow,and had 8 deer come in and feed for 15 min, 5 adult does, 3 yearlings. As most of the deer started to move off, I noticed one Doe that looked very old,with her belly hanging low. She had a very large chest and head. Seeing the others were leaving I decided to take this old girl. She was quartering away and I hit her near the back of the ribs taking the liver,one lung and nicking the heart. She went 40 yards. After the hit had a 6 point come buy at 22 yards, which I passed on! This doe seems to be very old. She is missing most of her front teeth, only 2 teeth one on each side . And back teeth worn right to the gums!
