I first spotted a Tom strutting in the open and hens in the woods nearby. They didn't seem to want to move due to the deep snow. I watched them for a long time. Finally, they disappeared and I decided to go to a nearby swamp, hoping they were headed in that direction. I set up and began calling. I got an immediate response and not long after 2 hens showed up. One hung up, but the other stayed interested. Eventually, 3 Toms showed up, with 2 coming into range quickly. Rather than waiting to see what the 3rd one was going to do, I decided to try for the biggest of the 2 near me. The arrow hit it's mark and he dropped on the spot.
