My friends dog happened on 2 big pigs while coon hunting. The dog chased this one into a mud wallow. They fought and my buddy was yelling to do something, so I drew the only weapon I had, (a .22) and jumped into the wallow from off a log. I was stuck knee deep in the mud and less than 15 feet from this boar. It hooked Mauler (the dog) and threw him out of the way. I let off 3 quick shots right behind the pigs left ear and he dropped like a rock. Mark and I spent the next 15 hours getting it out of this nasty thick bamboo jungle and to the truck. It measured 7 feet long and bottomed out a scale that went to 500lbs. The scale was hung from a 6x6 beam, that it cracked before we butchered the bad boy.
