I also made that press except with steel fingers, making one for a friend now, looks like you have a sleeve on the crank side, how do you attach it to the wood? I welded one on mine.

I also made a draw board, planning on building a bench top press too. Right now playing with bent cable guards to offset cam lean.

Love to tinker, hope to see more ideas.

Norseman,

I think, as it is, the back brace would get in the way. Currently I clamp two arrow shafts to another lawn chair and then clamp paper to the shafts. That puts me on a more level plane for paper tuning.

In regard to the pipe clamp press, there is a ton of info & different style fingers over on AT in the DIY section. Do a search on "My $20. bow press".The wood yoke of the clamp is notched out to fit the limb tips just enough to keep them in place. It is under alot of pressure when pressed & you would have to get fairly careless to separate the bow from the clamp if you could even do it.Dont believe I'll try...Here's my arrow saw.Mabe $30. in it.

I made several of each of those stands over 15 years ago. The aluminum hang-ons cost me around $24 in materials each and the metal ones I built a few years later were about $20 each. These days, you can buy the cheap Chinese stands for probably less than what you could build one for. But I trust my life to my stands.

They still get used every season and are hanging in trees from August thru November or beyond.

Not archery stuff tho it is homemade stuff.

Built this trap to keep intruders out of my bass boat. They were getting in and spraying plus wreaking havoc on the wiring system. Killing my tilt/trim, running lights, livewell aerator, and indash finder meant WAR!

I think mixing sand with polyurethane would be a fairly inexpensive way to provide traction on a stand. They have similar products available to provide traction on sealed concrete floors, but you’d need to buy in 5 gallon quantities and you’d end up with enough to seal hundreds of stands.
