Just curious if anybody is finding any sheds yet? I will be out looking on our property nest weekend...... Can't wait!!!
My friends son found a couple about 1 1/2 weeks ago. The bucks on my trail cams about 40 miles from there still had their racks as of Saturday. We are in VA. I've seen bucks all the way into March in years past. Most seem to drop them in early to mid February around here.
I got 7 so far. Got my first 3 on 12/13. Pics are on the NY forum
late March is best time for me in central PA.
Iv'e got 4 deer and 5 moose so far. 1st set of moose horns on 11/26 and 1st deer shed on 12/14.
nothing here in north east saskatchewan, not surprising as we have had a very warm winter till jan. 15th, then winter hit!!meantime, checking the trapline and an eye out for sheds.
Lets see some photos of sheds..
I found this one while out checking cameras.
That one is kind ugly Dan, glad you found it. Now I have to keep tabs on ya.......so jealous. I hate where I live!
Chad, I saw 6 bucks yesterday with full head gear so when they exited the field, I slipped in real quick and set up another camera. I will stay out of there for about three weeks then....look out!
i found this shed the other day. i'm going to go back with help to pick it up. its been chewed on a bit, but still in pretty good shape. its a dandy, wonder if its worth much.....
I put on five miles hiking the river-bottoms last weekend with nothing to show but my keys locked in the car! That required another four miles of hiking. Maybe this weekend will be better for sheds. LOL!
Picked up 9 so far. One nice set 4 point side scores 71 5/8 and the 5 point side scores 75 3/8 with twisted G2 and G3
Still too early in CO and we don't want to put extra presser on wintering animals.
Kansas, that is a nice looking pair of sheds. I have not been back out. Waiting for another week to get started.
Kansas, That is a SWEET set of sheds! I love those big nasty thick tines, and that big ol' crab claw!
that is s helluva set kansas, put an arrow thru him next year what a stud!
Here are my kids with a couple matched sets from a week ago - they were pretty pumped to find them!
Lee
You are some lucky shedders. In my area the herd is gunned so hard that if a buck makes it through the season its a miracle.Quite a fealing to pick up a pair like those knowing hes going to be there for next season!
I found two more yesterday, but I also saw two bucks carrying both sides, so it its a little early yet!
All my deer at the feeder still have their antlers. Two 6x6's are the one's I'm after.
I just saw a nice three year old 10 point at noon feeding in a winter wheat field. He was still carrying!
My daughter found this one when we were out hiking around a couple of weeks ago. She almost stepped on it before she saw it. She was pretty excited to find a shed though.
Had a pretty good day last Thursday on Blacktail sheds!
i wondered where highcountry was
Its hard to keep up with Nick unless you have a good pair of hiking boots and a couple of red bulls!
I found these two today. They are last years sheds.
Dang!!! that is a mess o nice sheds, tree killer!! Way to go!
Gonna try on monday for some muley sheds. How many fresh ones have you found, Nick? Kind of hard to tell from your pics.
So far I only have one brownie.... and here it is :)
A few friends have a couple but not many. I am thinking this weekend I will start finding a few more fresh ones, at least I hope!
I'm out looking for sheds and check my camera to find this big guy still carrying his crown. This was on Feb. 11th.
Didn't find any sheds today but did find this skull. Too bad as he was a great one and could've been ridiculous this fall.
Found this one here in N IL but its from last year
Found this one too has 13" g2 pretty chewed up.. I think its from last year too..
G3 on the last post my typo.. me an the old man found this one at work..
Found 8 in central Illinois. Nothing big yet
Central Minnesota...
saw a big 5x5 and 6x5 today (150's class), standing together. They even tickeled their horns a bit. Should be soon. I am keeping an eye on them all week.
I went on two semi-long hikes this weekend. Both in new areas. I found zero, not even an old one, which is pretty surprising. I didn't see any boot tracks while I was walking, but on the way out I did spot a few sets, so maybe they had already been hit.
Either way, I saw several very nice bucks still sporting head gear. Watched a few spar as well. Lots of deer in the areas, just no shed's. Maybe next time.
Wow, those are huge. Are they a matched set? I found these today.
I found the second side today to match this set.
They were found a year apart in the same general area
I found 8 today. Life is good!
Nice finds Dan!! Keep that up and I'll have to start taking off of work to keep up ;)
I just saw a pretty decent 8 pt this morning with both racks still on.
Ya seen two nice bucks Sunday both sides on.. Mikes of walking and no sheds
I found this one after a short walk this afternoon.
found this little 5 point in NW PA 1/26/12 128 3/8 official score
NJ shed (~55")....ducked out while visiting my kids for a few hours... saw a nice 8pt with both sides on 2/25
and another...2 in 4.5 hours...4 dead bucks
I'm up to 20 as of this weekend.
No fair Boone.....dang, wish I had sheddin' like you do. I'm surprised at the old ones you find...are you hitting new territory all the while - otherwise- I'd figure you'd find them the season before?? Would like to see some "as they lay" pics from you as you go.
Here are a few I found this past weekend.... Walked 2 days for about 5 hours each time... Most of the bucks are still holding tight out here, won't be long though.
Old shed laying about 2 feet from the 3 point.
I was very happy to find this one. I spent an hour in the same area as where this one was hoping to find the other side. Will head back soon to look again. This is the biggest shed, whitetail or muley, I have ever picked up... Guess what I rough scored it at if you would like...
Here are a few "as they lay photos"
Dan, those photos are going to cause me to use a day of vacation to get back out there and find some more!
Very nice, you have a whitetail shed paradise there in IL. My muley sheds don't hold a candle to those!
My cousin and I talked a few nights ago about how picking up whitetail sheds is much harder and more of a challenge because most of the deer are more spread out. I agreed to some degree, granted the most WT sheds I've found in a year was only 36, I am well on my way to beating that this year but it's not coming easier, I'm just walking more :)
Keep it up Dan!
Terrible...keep goin'...Ha. Very cool Dan. I found 27 sheds in 74 hours of looking last year in NY. Nothing bigger than about 59". Gosh I wish I lived where bucks can survive! Keep em coming and thanks
No sheds yet, but while walking into one of my favorite hunting spots, I was crossing an open field covered in snow. A small piece of brown was showing through the snow, I kicked it and this is what I found! Gonna hunt here this year! Feel like my luck is gonna change! Not sure why........ ;)
Buckslayer, yep that is a lucky omen.

Not the greatest resolution on this picture through my scope, but you get the point.. I can't wait for him to drop his sheds. I hope I am the lucky guy to scoop them up as well!
Boone, that one you posted near the top looks like a pronghorn sheath.
Found a few more on Sunday.
Nothing big this past weekend, I could only walk on Sunday as we had an archery shoot on Saturday. I am happy to finally get into some fresh drops though!
Will have to wait another week until the foot of fresh snow that came last week melts down...ugh!
No sheds for me yet, but I found this unique buck....
I love that droptine. I found these today to make 31 so far.
Here's a dead head I found recently. 4 sheds so far for me, but I haven't hit my favorite spots yet.
Nice work Dan! I'm headed out in the morning and for the whole weekend! With any luck the Hundo club should be a lock this weekend. Need 19 more!
It was hidden in the needles, but not quite hidden enough. I found it match minutes before in the same stand of cedars.
IslandArcher, That thing is knarley, what state? Thanks Nick, how goes the 200" search?
Too many people in that area every single day before dark. Haven't seen him since last Sunday night and he still had both sides, as did 9 other bucks in the group. I think they ran him off. So that leaves countless square miles of sage brush flats his antlers will rot away in. I'll head back that way at some point this weekend. You never know...
Daughter with her first shed.
Can't beat that WB!!!!
Hit 90 horns today. Certainly earned each one too. Headed out tomorrow for one last trip to find deer sheds. If I hit 100 cool.
Sunday my elk shed quest begins.
Boone, This buck is from the Calgary area in Alberta. Close to a busy road, so I assume he may have been killed by a vehicle. I have found a few sheds in the general area as well, so I'll post them up when I get a chance.
WB, Great job on getting your daughter out with you! My wife and I took our little girl for her first shed hunt this weekend. She is just five weeks old, so the fresh air basically just put her to sleep, lol.
Congrats to all on the sheds!!
A few pictures from this past weekend.
Too bad this spot hadn't been hit in the past, I found this one and the match about two feet apart but they had rotted away.
Not a bad haul. I hiked a lot on Friday, from about 8am until 630pm. The deer in this area tend to spread out more than what they do around the spots I am familiar with. I often hear "horror" stories about this spot in that it doesn't take much to walk all day and get skunked, but then I have also heard of folks having a field day out there picking up lots of horns! So I guess I was right in the middle.
Can't seem to find the right sides for some reason.
I looked out my kitchen window this morning and 4 bucks were walking by about 10 yards away. 2 were bald, one still had his right antler and a 145ish 8-point was still carrying. Before I could grab my camera my dog(out on the deck) barked and spooked them. Dang! So far my shed hunt efforts have only yielded a few small ones; pretty amazing that the bigger bucks are still carrying this late, but easiest winter ever here in SK.
Still too early around here. So far I've found four I missed last year including these three this morning.
picked these up yesterday
I dreamt about elk sheds last night. Maybe this weekend or next I will spot a few!
Nice sheds guys, keep at it!

Trying to post photos with my iPad so please bare with me..... This is the only one so far this year and my 15 month old daughter found it honest! She loves daddy's bucks.
My best side....72+. Either missed it last year or it was shed after I went through.
filmed a buck in NY 3/18 with rack intact
156 and change for this one. Would love to have the other side.
My 11 year old lab started hunting sheds with me last year. When we found a couple I would praise him. Now he goes out by himself when I am not home. He has brought these back to the house all by himself. I live on the edge of a big marsh.
Wacem, I like that dog, does the work for ya! Here is a few I found yesterday. The big one scores 70 1/8"
Another view of the heavy one. The base is almost 6"
Nice Find, is that a matched set?
Yes, unfortunately missed because I didn't go into this area last year. Pic makes them look big....probably a 115-118" buck.
193 with a 18.5 inside spread. I have both sides from him 2 years previous also
Elkohalic, those are massive, what state? sweet!
Another good weekend!
Here is a nice 4 point from Saturday.
I found this antler on Sunday... Oddly enough, I found it's other side back in November while deer hunting!
One of my prettiest ever....missed it by about 30 yds 10 days ago...
Should have known, Iowa has some real hogs!
I'm still seeing antlered deer here in Central Va., one tonight and one last Thur. Rarely have I seen them much past March 1.
Picked up one side of the guy we were looking for. We now have 4 yrs of sheds from him. We believe he is 7 yrs old this year. Shed would have scored around 81" if squirrels hadn't chewed off one point. scored 76.5" as is
Found this one last weekend.
Then one in a bush 30 feet away.
You guys are finding some hogs! elkohalic... those are awesome! Here's mine from this past weekend.
