Mountain Goat
Contributors to this thread:
Shot a pretty nice goat in Mountain Goat district 314 in Montana last November. Hunted LONG n HARD for this beast. At first was only going to make a rug. I have changed my mind and am now getting a life size mount. I have ordered a steep uphill climbing position. Let me see your mounts!!
Nice goat!! Congrats.
I just did a quick search for what you are looking for since I have seen several other threads with goat mounts. Here you go!!!

Great goat. Great decision on the life size mount. Goats for some reason, for me anyway, only look right in a life size mount.
Yep! Mountain Goats look best mounted life size IMO also!
Mine should be done in the next couple months can't wait!

Congrats on a great goat! here's a few I did this from last season. Good luck!!
I like the shoulder mount. Thinking that's what I'll do with mine. It's about all my budget affords and my < 1000 sq ft house. Knock on wood
busta ribs has a great goat mount maybe he can post some pics ,,,
@Dennis Razza :: Awesome life size. The goat looks unreal! The snow on the rocks is great too. I need my taxidermest to fill me in on what he is doing with mine. Jerry Andres in Bozeman, Montana is doing it. I thing the snow is very appropriate considering I shot it on Thanksgiving morning. He has such long hair.
Personally, I think you have to mount a Mountain Goat life-size.
Here are a few shots of my Billy from BC, mounted by Jim Kelly of Ringoes, NJ:
Congrats to all on the mounts. A mountain goat hunt is at the top of my bucket list, I'll worry about the mount after that. :)

I think you need to do goats life size to do them justice.
I agree. You can't beat a life size goat mount
Here are my mounts over the front entry door. Bill
llamapacker - That is absolutely stunning! Congrats! Where did you get them?

The goat on the left is a nanny my wife shot in Utah. I took the goat in the center on a solo backpacking trip in Montana. The goat on the right is my first, and taken in Alaska. The original Alaskan mount was reconfigured and added to make this grouping. The MT and UT goat were taken the same year. Bill

Here is video of my hunt. Let me know what you guys think!
CO Oak.. Wow. Great looking mount and rock (especially the moss)
I agree, CO Oak has some radical moss! The ice on Hunterdad's goat is also really cool!
Great goat and pretty cool video. I'd like to get into that, do you use some kind editing software on your home computer? I have posted my Alaska Archery Billy before, one of my favorite mounts...

I think this is the pose you choose for your goat. I did this for a client a couple yrs back. Give you an idea what it will look like mounted. Wasn't sure how to send a pic thru a PM!
Razza, another nice mount. I found this online. (NOT MY GOAT OR PHOTO). This is the exact mount I ordered and the goat looks almost identical to mine. Hoping my life size looks just like this one, plus some snow and ice
That is a very nice goat. I drew the same tag as you did Peter and would love to get some info from you about your hunt. My tag is for this year (2012) and I'm looking for anything that helps. Let me know.
Hey Dennis---question:
Over time, my pure white is getting a ting of color to it.
Dust- ect, I am sure....as it gets very little direct sunlight if/when I have my TR blinds open....mainly at night with the track lights on for outside viewing.....into my TR.
Any tricks of the trade to just clean it up a little and keep it pure white?
I use a lint brush ever so lightly on him....but that seems more top surface cleaning.
Thanks,
Good luck, Robb
Here's mine that just got done by my taxidermist.
Taste like Chicken! ha
Seriously, not bad eating at all.
I would have one pack of steaks that was real chewy and the next just perfect.
Roast seemed best in the Dutch Oven or the pressure cooker.
Burger is fine---ya know burger.
Good luck, Robb
Robb - If it's easy for you to take outside, I've found forced air to be the best for goats. I use a cattle drier but a shop vac on reverse or leaf blower works just as well. Go over the whole thing starting at the back end and blowing up towards the front. This will blow all dust and dirt out of the hair. After you're all done (when dust and dirt stop flying)Take a few steps back... about 3 ft away and hit it with softer air. this will set the hair in place. Make sure the tip you use has at least a 1" opening.
This is how I clean & groom goats/bears for shows.
If the goat is turning yellow, this may be due to over bleaching.
Good luck!!
Thanks Dennis.
Sure, I will just use my blower....from a distance!
No yellowing just not a pure white as your photo's are so I got to wondering..
'ppreciate ya,
Good luck, Robb
That worked Great Dennis.
Certainly was dusty dis-coloration.
Thanks
Good luck, Robb
