I just got back from my Wyoming area 8/23 sheep hunt but didn't get a ram with my bow!I tryed with a bow for 17 days but just couldn't get things to come together to get the job done!I had 12 rams move into area 10 & mountain climbers scared a couple of rams we were watching!I saw 42 different rams with 15 being rams that I would have been happy to take with my bow! On the 18th day I switched to a gun & 4 days later I took a ram which was a tough decision after not hunting with a gun in over 10 years!Time, money & my wife's patience were running out & I wanted to bring a sheep home so I dusted off my old .280 Remington!I spent almost 3 weeks above 10,000 ft & took the ram at 12,500 on the side of Gannet Peak, the highest mountain in Wyoming! At 41, I have given up on caring what weapon I use.
I have so many other thing on my plate: archery, ML, rifles, knife, etc. works for me.
Those pics are awesome!
One of our spike camps! We moved horse camp 3 different times & changed spike camps 8 times with a couple over-nite bivy's besides! David

I wish things would have turned out different but the hunt was the hardest thing I have ever done & a wonderful experience with some great people! Maybe next time I can get it done with a bow! Thanks,David
What a great ram - way to go! I admire you for putting such effort on the archery side, but in the end you know that you got a phenominal trophy and did the best you could with the conditions you faced.
It sounds like you had a good trip and got a nice ram. Gun or bow, it's a special adventure and great trophy. Congrats!
I spent 8 days running around the high country in the Washakie Wilderness earlier this month. My dad has a unit 4 sheep tag. We saw about 40 sheep but not a single mature ram. We called off the trip early and are returning during the first week of October. I can't wait to get back.
Congrats on a GREAT ram!!
Way to go....awesome country and an awesome ram.
Sounds like a dream hunt to me!! Nicely done!
Congrats!!!
That country looks familiar to me. I was in there in 2004 and didn't come out with a ram. I knew it would be tough to do with a bow. I remember how hard those rocks were to sleep on.
Again, Congrats on getting a great ram out of there!!
Congrats on a great hunt and awesome ram! Well done.
Congrats that was a hard earned trophy way to stick it out.
I have the points and should be huning my ram next year in WY.
Great hunt and great ram! I live just South of your unit, 8/23 has been a tough hunt the last several years. Congrats on a fantastic Ram from one of the most beautiful places on Earth. MB
