Helly Hansen Impertech now in Camo! |

Was (of course) doing so more searching on gear for my trip in 2011 (can't stop at least looking at gear!!!) but thought i would let folks know that helly hanson impertech jacket and pants are now avail in camo. I undertstand that this is probably not very important (as many of told me not to worry about the camo for moose hunting) but i would still rather buy a waterproof system that i can use while hunting other game in the future. I was considering the sitka nimbus jacket for this purpose but now i don't have to worry about spending that kind of money. This will save at least $160.00 if not more. here's the website for this jacket (this jacket does have a built in hood):

It says that it is avail as of march 6, 09. thought i would share...
Danny,
My HH Impertech gear must be at least 10 years old....and it is camo. What am I missing here? Maybe a different camo pattern?

yes the bibs are on the site
Back in December I asked HH if they'd be making the 3/4 length parka in camo. The answer was no. That pic looks longer than the regular jacket.
Do you know if the 3/4 length is available?
there are two jackets available as well as the pants if you go to the site. The jackets are 90 and 80 bucks and i believe the pants are 75... I don't know whether to get the pants or not due to wearing waiters all the time or not. I just haven't done enough research on waders/pants issue yet. Would love some insight tho!
Looked at the sight, must not see it.

I needed mine for POW camo was not out, man I wish it was, not buying new, that stuff is awesome for rainy weather. I love it. It has not been made in camo in recent years, did not know it ever was.
Here a the link to all the impertech that helly hanson makes. You'll see the pants, bibs, and jackets here. Hope this helps. I will be ordering these for the trip. Not that its tomorrow or anything but oh well.

Thanks!
I just emailed them to ask what the difference is in the two camo jackets they offer. I want the longest possible. It's great to wear with waist height waders if you want to skip the pants for a moose hunt where you'll have the waders on most of the time.
Yes Bou... PVC and definitely different than what you're used to in PVC. Kinda soft and like they advertise.... it stretches nicely, VERY pliable. I'd say its also quieter than regular PVC too. Quieter than saddlecloth for sure. If you're sick of sweating in Gore tex and simliar stuff and want true 100% waterproof this is it.

Bou’bound,
I have the older solid green Impertech and yes it is relatively quiet although something with a fleece outer shell will be quieter. I use it when I expect it to rain all day long because it won’t get saturated with water and leak like Goretex can and because it doesn’t absorb water it dries quickly. The down side is it doesn’t breath but as long as the temps are a little cool then it isn’t bad, for the price it is very good raingear. If you are hunting where you can dry your gear at the end of the day and it isn’t constantly raining then I prefer the Fleece/Goretex raingear since it breaths and is somewhat quieter in the brush. Sitka gear is coming out with some new raingear this year that looks like it will be very good but will be much more expensive than the HH.
Here is what it says on the Website:
“Our unique waterproof-stretchable fabric introduced to the market in 1993 offers a lightweight stretch solution. The soft polyester knit backing and elastic polyurethane coating gives IMPERTECH a built in stretch factor of 200%. The waterproof outer coating is imperious to rain, resistant abrasion and is virtually noiseless. This lightweight yet tough material disperses perspiration moisture and eliminates the need for a separate lining fabric.”

mule let us know what they say about the jackets please. thanks,
Their reply: "The Roan Anorak is a pullover jacket and the impertech Deluxe Jacket is a zip front /snap jacket it reaches mid thigh."
Nice!

Is this the same fabric they carried in British military camo pattern ~5 years ago? It's good stuff, though I worry about abrasion and brush resistance (the flip side of quiet, soft, stretchable fabric).
I see the backing specs on the anorak and zip versions differ; I wonder if that has any real implications...

it is AP camo.
the material has gotten good reviews on durability on many many threads in the past including from AK dense forested areas.
haven't ordered it yet but will very soon. I really don't need it right now but would like to get it before they go ahead and discountinue it or something irrational!
