I have a 99% chance to pick any zone next year to hunt moose in Idaho. I need a little help trying to pick the best zone for a trophy bull. I want to hunt the rut and try to get it done with my bow but will have a gun around just to play it safe. I am basically going to have a governors tag. Please help me get going in the right direction.

Better yet, tell them you want a tag for 54. There aren't any but if there was!!

If your goal is to take a moose with a bow, then I would suggest to leave the gun at home. Good luck on whatever you choose.

Its one of those things given a once in a lifetime tag would you want to go home empty? So try for a week with a bow and then switch over to a gun if no luck. When you live out of state one has to do everything they can to get the tag filled on the first and only trip.

Agree that if the end "goal" is to "tag out", then one week bow and one week gun wouldn't be a bad idea. I hear many guys say they want to kill (X) with a bow, but take a gun, most of those stories end with a gun kill. Nothing wrong with your reasoning, just wanted to put in my 2 cents. On my AK trip to AK for moose in 2012, I purposely left the rifle at home so I wouldn't be tempted. Good luck on your hunt.

So how do you have a 99% chance for next year? They haven't even set the seasons yet. The only tag I'm aware of that is good anywhere is the "super tag" and it hasn't been drawn yet. Just curious about what I'm missing out on...

+2. Did you save up enough money to buy an auction tag?? Does Idaho even have those?

Is this just hypothetical?

No its not hypothetical. I am getting the tag directly from the fish and game I just need to pick a zone. Its basically going to be given to me on behalf of an organization and the fact that I am a disabled veteran. Like is said its 99% chance I will get it just want to plan now.
