I had the pleasure of watching this bull, at a very close distance, raking the small quaky you can see on the right of the photo. You can see his velvet hanging and if you look close, the blood still on his antlers. The lighting was tough but the evening was great!
Here's another photo of that same bull a few minutes later.
I then walked away, got in my truck and headed for a small lake and got there just in time to see two cows and a decent bull come in for water. I haven't looked at any of those photos, but promise to post a few in the next few days, if not tomorrow.
And good luck to all you moose hunters.
Have a great bow hunt. BB
Bill, I've tried the rubs on the bedpost thing before.... personally a bottle of red wine and lots of chocolate work best for me..... or was that some chocolate and lots of red wine??? Don't know, ok... maybe been too long.... =D
Pretty cool. If you had been jaquomo it would have chased you all they way back to your truck!
Thanks much, waiting for the rest....
Thanks Bill, I always enjoy your pictures!
Great photos, Bill! Those got me even more excited for my first moose hunt. Leaving for Alberta in 18 days!
Darren
Nice pics, Moose meat is my favorite. thanks for sharing.
Excellent, very nice photos. Thanks for posting
Here's one I took with my full frame camera and off a tripod. Same bull just a bit later. A bit better lighting too.
Thanks and have a great bow hunt. BB
Sorry I screwed up as usual. Here's the photo I meant to post.
Good looking Bull Bill....
Bill, do you ever come across a 'Rut Pit' or Moose wallow as some have talked about?
Wish I was moose hunting this year! Thanks for sharing!
There he is George. Go get him!
Afraid he might be in the wrong state...Lol
These photos get me excited.. I'm two weeks out from B.C.
Ike I have seen them, but never really sat one or waited there. I like ponds, small lakes or water sources most if I am going to just wait for a moose.
Do you have a permit this year? Is it in Wyoming if you do? What unit?
Took these two bulls sparring between the time I left the raking bull and was on my way to the small lake. They actually came into the lake just as I was walking back to my truck.
Have a great bow hunt. BB
OK Bill.....you just had to stir "one more bucket list hunt" didn't you?:)
Thanks for posting!
Mark
great pictures as usual BB!!! Thanks for sharing yet again!
Thanks Bill, shot a PM your way...
Once again, good luck to all you moose hunters. And I promise, this will be the last tease photo, of a moose I will post on this thread. Ha Ha
Have a great moose hunt. BB
Mr. Allard excuse my ignorance but do you hunt? You take the most beautiful photos I have ever seen. Seems like you would be a great hunter as well!! Love your work! Shawn
Shawn, do a BB search on here...He's killed more stuff than most of us can dream of! ;-)
That's on top of just being a great guy!!!
I know I promised not to post anymore tease photos, but here's a photo I received just this morning. It was taken by a friend of mine who I went with to shoot moose photos last week.
I am not a person who posts a lot of selfie photos, but I thought some of you might enjoy this one. Its a photo she took of me as I photographed a moose as it raked its velvet off on a small aspen tree. If you would look past me, you can see the bulls antlers off of my right shoulder. I took most of those photos that evening with my portrait lens at around 10-12 yards. Almost within bow range for me and well within bow range for all of you.
Anyway some of you wonder why I laid my bow down for this, but believe me its the same rush!
Have a great bow hunt. BB
That's amazing Bill...Keep posting them please and are these Utah Bull's?
Always amazing with every frame. Bob.
